Bubba Page’s Post

I’m consuming more information and finding it harder to make decisions. That’s an uncomfortable thing to admit as an entrepreneur and investor. Staying informed is part of what I do. But lately, between the markets, AI, world events, and social media, I’ve noticed how much noise I’m allowing into my life. Sometimes I take in so much that it becomes harder to focus and move forward on the things that actually need my attention. There’s always another update to check before getting back to work. As a dad of 8, that concerns me beyond business. My kids have their own questions, worries, and things they want to tell me. I want to have enough attention left to actually listen. We talk a lot about managing our calendars. I’m realizing I need to be more intentional about what gets access to my mind, too. I don’t have this figured out. It’s why I wrote this week’s Weekly Reset about stillness. I needed the reminder myself. For me, that starts with God. How can I expect to recognize the guidance of the Holy Ghost when I’ve filled nearly every quiet moment with something else? “Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10. That invitation has been on my mind. Especially when I’m overwhelmed, facing a decision, or tempted to keep scrolling for an answer. Here’s the challenge I shared this week, and one I’m giving myself: put the phones away for 10 or 15 minutes. Turn off the news. Make room to pray, think, and have an uninterrupted conversation. If you have kids at home, ask what’s been distracting them or making them anxious. Then talk about one thing you could turn down this week to create more peace. The question I keep coming back to is: “What can we turn down this week so we can hear God more clearly?” I want to build meaningful businesses and make thoughtful decisions. I also want my family to experience a dad who’s present. Protecting some quiet feels like a practical place to start. That’s why I write The Weekly Reset: a free Sunday-night email with an honest story, a practical principle, and a simple challenge to help us lead our families and weeks with more purpose. And if someone comes to mind, feel free to send this their way. What boundary has helped you protect your attention at work or at home?

Love this! I’ve also been doing the ‘stare at a new tree’ for 5 minutes for about a month now! It is weirdly helpful, makes you realise how much we miss seeing & appreciating smaller things in life!

Love this. As one of 10 kids, I connect with needing this from my parents. It helps me to put my phone in the other room so I can detach and focus on my wife!

I’m not great at this. I typically listen to audio books and podcasts when I go for a run, but I’ve been feeling the info overload lately too. I’m still working at it, but I’m going to try to intentionally leave the earbuds at home for a run or two each week. I once forgot my phone at home when we were leaving for a cruise. My wife will attest to the fact that I was a wreck for the first 36 hours, embarrassingly so. After that, the quiet was very nice. I started waking up early and running around the ship before everyone else woke up. It was like having the ship to myself. I really loved those quiet morning runs. Sad that it took a forced phone detox and trip to the Caribbean for me to learn that.

Love how you put your faith out on this platform, especially with kids. I have small ones at home, so this hit.
