Aura++’s Post

EV charging is becoming routine, but the customer experience still often ends when the cable comes out. Unlike petrol stations, supermarkets, and airlines, many charging networks offer little reason for drivers to return beyond location and price. That creates a missed opportunity: charging sessions generate valuable moments for building loyalty and encouraging better use of limited infrastructure. For drivers, rewards can make frequent charging feel more worthwhile. For charge point operators, they can help strengthen retention while motivating behaviours such as unplugging promptly after a session, freeing the charger for the next vehicle. PowerGoodies EV Rewards is an example of this approach. Its free app lets EV drivers earn points when charging at partner networks, then exchange those points for gift cards and other rewards. It also supports bonus points for smart charging habits on selected networks. The product serves everyday EV drivers, commuters, families, and high-frequency professional drivers. It also gives charge point operators a way to connect loyalty programmes with operational efficiency rather than treating rewards as a separate marketing exercise. The broader opportunity is clear: as charging networks expand, differentiation may increasingly depend on the experience around charging—not only the availability of kilowatt-hours. Rewards, personalisation, and better utilisation could become important tools for building trust in a fragmented charging market. The open question is how far loyalty programmes can influence charging behaviour while still delivering meaningful value to drivers and sustainable economics for operators.
