AI vs Freelancers: What is actually happening in the market? The freelance market is changing. AI can now write content, generate designs, build basic websites, write code, create images, automate tasks, and do many things that freelancers used to charge for. So here’s the question, Is AI taking freelance jobs, or is it changing what clients expect from freelancers? I think the real shift is not simply, AI vs Freelancer It is becoming, AI-powered Freelancer vs Freelancer who doesn't use AI. Clients still need people who can, • Understand their business • Make the right decisions • Solve problems • Communicate with clients • Build custom solutions • Understand users and conversions • Take responsibility for the final result AI can make a freelancer faster, but speed alone isn't the value. The bigger question is, What services will clients still pay humans for in the next 2 to 3 years? Which freelance skills are becoming less valuable? Which skills are becoming MORE valuable because of AI? Should freelancers specialize more, or become AI-powered generalists? I'd love to hear from other freelancers, founders, recruiters, and business owners, What are you seeing in the market right now? Are clients hiring fewer freelancers because of AI? Or are they simply expecting freelancers to deliver more, faster, and at a lower cost? Let's hear different perspectives. 👇 #Freelancing #AI #FutureOfWork #FreelanceJobs #ArtificialIntelligence #RemoteWork #DigitalMarketing #WebDevelopment

I think we’re going to see a lot more freelancers stop selling “services” and start selling systems. And honestly... that shift is already happening. 👀 A freelancer used to get hired to develop a strategy. Now they might get hired to build the AI workflow that researches the topic, drafts the emails, organizes them, and sends the right ones to the right people. Same freelancer. Very different value. 🔄 Here’s what I find interesting about that: 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: AI can handle a lot of the steps that used to eat up hours. ⚡ 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗺 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴: The interesting part becomes figuring out what should actually be automated. 𝗕𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀: A freelancer who can connect several pieces of a business process is solving a much bigger problem than someone delivering one isolated task. 𝗔 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲: Knowing the tool matters. Knowing where the tool belongs in a business matters even more. 🧠 That's probably the part of the freelance market I'm most interested in right now. Not whether AI will change freelancing. It obviously will. The more interesting question is what freelancers will build on top of it. 🚀

🤖 “This sounds AI-generated.” For a freelancer, hearing this from a client can be uncomfortable. 😅 Especially when you did put effort into the work. But sometimes, the problem isn’t using AI. It’s when the final content feels: ❌ Too generic ❌ Too polished ❌ Repetitive ❌ Full of predictable phrases ❌ Missing personal experience ❌ Written without understanding the actual audience AI can help you research, brainstorm, structure ideas, or save time. But if you simply copy the output and send it to the client, it may not sound like you anymore. That’s why I believe freelancers should use AI as a working tool, not as their voice. ✍️ Add your own examples. Add your own thinking. Edit the awkward parts. Question the output. Make the final work genuinely useful. Because clients aren’t just paying for words. They’re paying for your understanding and expertise. 💡 I’ve shared more about why freelancers can sound AI-generated to clients — and what you can do to make your work feel more natural and authentic. 🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/d7Anjg4y 💬 Do you use AI in your freelance work? Creative freelancers are being hired to clean up AI slop generated by client teams. The Guardian reports that some freelancers are now earning 60-90% of their annual income by fixing AI-made designs and copy. Freelance work platforms like Freelancer.com and Fiverr have seen AI remediation gig posting go up steeply in the past year. What a topsy-turvy world we live in: create something rubbish and cheap, and then hire a brilliant creative to fix it. No wonder the freelancers quoted found the work "soulless". This is a turbulent time to be in comms, and especially to be a comms freelancer looking for purpose-driven opportunities. If this is you, you'll love our monthly newsletter, How We Roll. It's specially for global purpose-driven comms freelancers and includes tips, community features and ways to connect. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲'𝘀 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. Here's the number nobody's talking about: the best AI agent available today was tested on 240 real, paid freelance projects. It only finished 6 of them to a standard a client would actually accept. That's a 2.5% success rate. On the same benchmarks these models score 80-90%. Passing a test and finishing a client's job are not the same thing. AI isn't replacing freelancers. It's replacing freelancers who never learned to sell, position, or close. #Freelancing #AI #Upwork #SalesStrategy #FutureOfWork
