🧠📈 We’re hiring a Staff Data Scientist in New Subjects at Duolingo! 🎶♟️➕ I recently posted about a Staff DS opening on our monetization team to lead financial forecasting. I'm thrilled to share that we’re also looking for a Staff Data Scientist to bring senior leadership to our Math, Music, and Chess product lines. These are newer areas for Duolingo, and the opportunity here is unique: help shape how we build learning in brand-new domains, with all the creativity and ambiguity that comes with it. This role isn’t about being a solo data founder as we already have some strong DS presence in the pillar. But we need a senior partner to bring deep experience and an aptitude for directing clear thinking and data science rigor. You’ll work closely with me, with high ownership from day one. Some quick clarity: ✅ This is a senior role. We’re looking for folks with 6+ years of hands-on DS experience after finishing their education (not counting internships). If your last degree was a Bachelor’s, you’ll likely need even more. ✅ We’re especially excited by folks with strong intuition in economics, statistics, or causal inference, and who enjoy growing others as well as building themselves. ✅ You’ll be part of a team that’s growing fast. We’re investing heavily in top talent across the board. ✅ This role will be based in our Pittsburgh HQ, so a willingness to relocate is required.
