10 rules for an iconic personal brand on LinkedIn:
When you’re starting out, it’s easy to try too much, too fast.
Try a new topic → write one post → it bombs → try a new topic, repeat.
Nothing stays around long enough for people to remember it.
But strong personal brands come from picking one thing, getting better at it, and saying it again and again. That's how you get remembered.
Here are the 10 rules I'd follow to build yours:
1/ 90:20 Rule
90% of your views come from 20% of your posts. Track your best performing hooks, formats, and topics every month, then do more of that.
2/ Repurpose your top posts
Every 3 months, repost your best content with recent updates.
I've turned infographics into carousels, changed the angle on old posts, and added new data and they perform all over again.
3/ Use visuals that hook
Use trending visual designs before they saturate. Large titles, contrasting colors, and unique designs stop the scroll.
My handwritten whiteboard infographics go viral a lot.
4/ Study the outliers
Find the posts in your niche performing 2x better than everything else. Study the hook, format, and angle that made them break out.
I use Saywhat Inspiration to find and analyze these posts.
5/ Hook with numbers
Use real work, results, and lessons as proof. "I analyzed 390,000 posts" is more compelling than "Extensive research has found…"
But only add numbers when you can back them up!
6/ Use authority photos
Post photos that validate your authority - on stage speaking, with someone notable, at an exclusive event.
Whenever I have a speaking engagements or panel, I always make sure I get pictures for a future post.
7/ Solve one problem per post
Give each post one clear job: grow, build trust, or convert.
I plan my content as a mix of TOFU, MOFU, and BOFU - and never expect a post to hit all 3.
8/ Build a lead magnet
Solve one narrow, painful problem that your audience has with a checklist, a template, or an email course. Offer it for free in exchange for an email.
9/ Invest in your About section
Write about what you help people do. Keep it skimmable, use bullets, and end with a CTA like "Sign up for my newsletter" or "Book your first call here."
10/ Focus on one topic
Pick one specific problem for your audience, then keep coming back to it from different angles.
Iconic brands feel familiar. Pick what you want to be known for, then keep showing up with it.
