But today, when critical shipments like vaccines sit on a tarmac waiting for multiple authorities to reconcile PDFs, it's clear that our current model no longer scales. In the second article of my blog series, I explore why the solution isn't faster documents — it's fewer documents. By building digital trust in supply chains and leveraging interoperable supply chain data, we can verify shipments at the source and clear goods automatically, rather than reconstructing trust after the fact. Clearing at the speed of data is the logical outcome of designing trust for a digital world. That model no longer scales. If you could view global commerce from space, borders would disappear. What you would see instead are flows — of goods, data, and trust — operating as a single system. Yet today, that system is still governed by fragmented, document-based processes designed for another era. In the future, trusted data will not support the supply chain — it will be the supply chain.
