Todd Federman shared thisThanks to Brian Duffy and WOIO for having me on Newsmakers to talk about startups and entrepreneurship in Cleveland (link in comments). We talked about how companies like Sherwin-Williams, Goodyear and Progressive went from fledgling regional startups to global leaders. And how the next generation of Cleveland companies is building on the region's experience, capital and relationships. That last part matters more than people think. For an early-stage company, an introduction to the right customer is usually worth more than a check. We also got into what separates the startups that make it here from the ones that don't, and what happens when established Cleveland companies buy from young suppliers they can grow with. Worth a watch if you care about where this region is headed. Todd Federman shared thisCongratulations to Matt Kalina, Founder & CEO of TandemStride, on being named a 2026 Fierce 50 Innovation Honoree by Fierce Healthcare! This is an amazing story. After his brother Mark was seriously injured, Matt lived the chaos that follows a hospital discharge firsthand: the uncertainty, the gaps in care, and the toll on the whole family. Instead of accepting that as the way things are, he built the system he wished his family had. Today TandemStride is helping thousands of survivors and families navigate life after injury, and health plans and health systems are taking notice. This recognition is well deserved, and it's proof that the gap between the hospital and real recovery is one worth solving. North Coast Ventures is proud to be on this journey with Matt and the entire TandemStride team. Todd Federman liked thisSpringfield made it official today. A tremendous thank you to Marc Allen and the entire Electra.aero team for choosing Ohio as the home of your first production facility. We know a decision of this magnitude comes with many options, and we're grateful for your confidence in Springfield, the Miami Valley, and the people who will help bring your vision to life. Nearly 2,000 jobs. An $850 million investment. And a nine-passenger hybrid-electric aircraft capable of taking off in just 150 feet — built right here in Ohio. Grateful to Governor Mike DeWine for his leadership and personal commitment to bringing this project home. And none of this happens without Theodore Angel and the team at the National Advanced Air Mobility Center of Excellence (NAAMCE), who spent nearly two decades building the airspace and infrastructure that helped make Springfield the right choice. Thank you to Jeff Hoagland, David Burrows and the Dayton Development Coalition for your partnership in getting this across the finish line. To Micah Newburg, Kevin Chambers, Dana Saucier Jr, Terry Slaybaugh, Matt Cybulski, and the JobsOhio Talent Team who worked on this project for more than a year: outstanding work. Electra joins a growing list of wins for Springfield since 2024. This community has been building real momentum in data centers, advanced manufacturing, and now the next era of aviation. And tonight, before the first aircraft rolls off the production line, Electra is opening its doors to the Springfield community for a picnic on-site. That says a lot about the kind of partner Marc and his team intend to be. Marc, thank you for believing in what Ohio can deliver. We're proud to be your partner, and even more excited about what we'll build together.

Todd Federman liked thisTodd Federman liked thisLast week The Ohio State University President Ravi Bellamkonda named Aravind Chandrasekaran Dean of the The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. A year ago this month, I met AC for the first time in his office at Fisher. I had just started Right Brain Labs, and before the meeting ended he did something no one at Ohio State had done in the three decades since I graduated: he invited me to join him in what he was building. My mind was set on the startup, but I said yes. It was Ohio State, and his energy was infectious and hard to say no to. In April, I brought Columbus technology leaders together at Ohio Stadium for AI Horizons, and AC joined me as co-host. He told the room that, starting with the Class of 2029, every Ohio State student will graduate AI fluent. It was the conviction in his voice that told me how far he wanted to take the impact, well beyond Fisher Hall and well beyond campus. He works at it every week, too. AC spends much of his time building bridges with the business community, something few deans before him have made a priority, and those bridges are what will turn a goal like that into graduates Ohio’s companies want to hire. Over this past year, I have worked with AC and his team including Roger A. Bailey, Nate Craig and Tzachi Zach to help undergraduates, MBA srudents, mid-career executives and C-level leaders start their AI Fluency journey. Every step of the way, I have seen AC’s drive, intellect and energy provide the fuel required for this transformation. He is always asking how what we teach and research at Fisher shows up in the way companies in Ohio, and beyond, get their work done. AC, I am proud of you and grateful for the work we have done together. You have spent your career exploring the unknown until it became known, and then turning what you learned into something others could build on. Now you get to do that for all of Fisher, and the foundation you lay will serve our students and the businesses of Ohio for years to come. Congratulations my friend and god speed.

Todd Federman liked thisTodd Federman liked thisEvery day, I talk to CEOs and executives about their companies. Businesses across the region are growing and growing fast. It is driven by demand in the energy, aerospace, defense, construction, electronics, logistics, and health care sectors. Many companies have multi-year backlogs. Their #1 growth challenge remains people. At 1.9%, Greater Cleveland continues to have the lowest unemployment in Ohio (and one of the lowest in the US). In the last week, CEOs have shared they are seeking engineers and developers, machinists and assemblers, finance professionals, health care technicians, and more. And they need them ASAP. While we continue to launch and scale talent initiatives, we also need an All In word-of-mouth effort that shares Cleveland has great opportunities and an exceptional quality of life. Todd Federman liked thisI'm thrilled to welcome Saket Agrawal to Healia Health as our Head of Product! As we searched for this role, we talked to dozens of great product people. What stood out about Saket was his deep passion for healthcare and his ambition to build something massively impactful. Saket has lived the founder journey. He started OFFOR Health and led it as CEO for the better part of a decade, growing it from a founding duo to a team of more than a hundred and helping treat tens of thousands of patients. Before that, he spent nearly a decade at Intel in product and customer strategy. He knows how hard it is to build in healthcare, and how much it matters when you get it right. That’s exactly who we want leading product as we work to give working families health coverage they can rely on, while saving their employers money. Welcome to the team, Saket. Let’s get to work! 🚀Todd Federman liked thisI'm excited to share that I've joined Healia Health as Head of Product! Throughout my career, I've been drawn to opportunities where the right team, a big problem, and an ambitious vision come together. That's exactly what I found in Priyang Shah and the team at Healia. For too long, health insurance has left people second-guessing whether to seek care, worrying about unexpected costs, and navigating complicated decisions. We believe there's an opportunity to fundamentally change that relationship. Imagine a world where families can focus on getting the care they need, when they need it, without the fear of what it might cost. Where health insurance gives people the confidence and freedom to take control of their health. The fun part, we save companies money while doing it. That's the future we want to help build. And we're starting with working families. Having spent much of my career at the intersection of technology, healthcare, and building businesses, I'm particularly excited about the opportunity to work across teams to turn an ambitious vision into meaningful impact at scale. I'm looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and building alongside this talented team. Let's get to work!

Todd Federman liked thisTodd Federman liked thisAI is moving fast. And while the possibilities are exciting, how do we make sure we're using it safely, responsibly and effectively? That was the focus of yesterday's Greater Cleveland Partnership AI Roundtable, where we tackled data privacy, security and hallucination management. The best part was for every risk we discussed, there were practical solutions and strategies to help manage it. A few takeaways: ✔️ Start with the basics. Clear AI policies, strong data permissions and ongoing security monitoring go a long way. ✔️ Be intentional with AI memory. Use project-specific memory and separate sensitive information to maintain better control. ✔️ Get your data house in order. Organized files, accurate information and appropriate access controls make AI both safer and more effective. ✔️ Trust, but verify. Test AI outputs, build in safeguards and match the level of human oversight to the level of risk. ✔️ You don't have to solve everything at once. Start small, understand your risks and build smarter systems as you go. A huge thank you to Gabriel Torok and Don Shin for leading the discussion and to everyone who shared ideas, experiences and solutions. What I love about these roundtables is that we're not just talking about the challenges of AI. We're learning from each other and figuring out how to move forward with confidence. And that is how we grow together and build an AI ready region. What does the "new era" of private equity look like? This week at PEI NEXUS, Bain & Company's Chairman of Global Private Equity Practice Hugh MacArthur recapped the firm's latest Global Private Equity Report. Hugh noted that firms will need to focus on what they do well in a “new era” for private equity. These sentiments echoed much of what Private Wealth Forum speakers, including Arax Investment Partners Founder and CEO Haig Ariyan, Laird Norton Wetherby CIO Ron Albahary, CFA, Ardian Managing Director, US Private Wealth Solutions Ava Mallin, and Citi Wealth Head of Private Equity and Real Estate Jeffrey Locke, shared on stage at PEI. This week's AGM Alts Weekly dives into what a "new era" in private equity might look like, connecting dots and data points from Bain & Company and McKinsey & Company's 2026 reports on the state of the private equity industry. Some key themes defined the takeaways from both reports: ➡️ Returns will not be a dime a dozen: Bain's punchline? "12 is the new 5." ➡️ Megadeals, big questions: 2025 witnessed an increase in global buyout deal value. However, just 13 deals of $10B or more contributed 69% of the growth in 2025, accounting for $274B of the global gain. ➡️ A K-shaped industry: Private equity appears to turning into a K-shaped industry, with “a subset of elite funds [being] on the upswing while everyone else muddles through.” ➡️ No fun in fundraising: McKinsey noted that core, closed-end fundraising has “become more competitive, selective, and time consuming.” ➡️ Continuation nation: There’s been a marked rise in continuation vehicle activity, but only represents less than 10% of exit value. ➡️ Mid-sized deals not so mid: Megadeal activity grabbed the headlines. But deal sizes $1-5B deals grew 29%. Growth in the $1-5B deal size segment could be encouraging for specialist buyout funds. There are some key questions for allocators to grapple with as they think about what private equity might look like in the future. 1️⃣ Do allocators believe public markets will continue to outperform private markets? 2️⃣ Will fundraising bounce back? 3️⃣ Can firms kick value creation into motion? 4️⃣ Are both GPs and LPs ready to handle how investors might look to exit evergreen vehicles? 5️⃣ For LPs, are they finding managers that have an edge? Read on for more👇 This week's Alt Goes Mainstream's AGM Alts Weekly, brought to you by DealsPlus, covers: 🗂️ AGM Index, an index that tracks the leading publicly traded alternative asset managers. 💻 Who is hiring: Senior-level positions from companies Blackstone, KKR, Apollo Global Management, Inc., Ares Management, EQT Group, Blue Owl Capital, Franklin Templeton, Fortress Investment Group, iCapital, Goldman Sachs, Ultimus Fund Solutions, Krilogy, MSCI Inc. Search funds and small business acquisitions have evolved dramatically over the past few decades. I recently spoke with Jon S., Founder of Agate Hound Fund, to talk about the original search playbook and what he thinks the next decade of small business acquisitions looks like. Topics we discussed include: - The early Stanford days of search and the people and culture that shaped the ecosystem - The case for diversification: 7–9 funds × 20–25 acquisitions each → exposure to a couple hundred companies - Trends in small business deal multiples and what that could mean for buyers today - How value can be created through multiple arbitrage, leverage and organic growth - Why AI & basic software systems (CRM, field service, scheduling) could be the biggest value driver in the next wave of small business ownership - How the broader ecosystem is evolving and what's next 🎥 Watch on YouTube here: https://lnkd.in/ehDfXZ_g 🎧 Listen here: https://lnkd.in/ehMpNRKX

We've officially entered into manufacturing - and we’re doing it with a powerhouse partner. Lantern Partners AI is proud to announce our partnership with Estee Bedding Company, the nation’s leading truck mattress manufacturer out of Chicago with 12 facilities and 45 distribution centers across the U.S. Estee has deployed LanternBRP™ (our AI-native, modular Business Resource Planning platform) to replace a well known legacy ERP that had become a bottleneck - and they’re projected to drive $4.2M in annual savings by improving: ✅ Bill of materials (BOM) management ✅ Inventory control and imbalance reduction ✅ Production scheduling and downtime prevention ✅ Sales visibility and faster decision-making What makes this meaningful isn’t just the software - it’s the shift: mid-market manufacturers deserve operational intelligence that matches the pace of their business, without the rigid, fragmented tools they’ve been stuck with for years. As Estee’s CEO Tim Enright put it: their former ERP couldn’t keep up. LanternBRP™ gives them one coherent platform so teams can operate as a synchronized unit — and build for what’s next. This is the first step into manufacturing, and we’re just getting started. 🌐 Learn more: LanternPartners.ai #lanternpartnersai #Manufacturing #ERP #SupplyChain #Operations #SaaS #AI #DigitalTransformation #MidMarket #Industry40 #BusinessIntelligence

The "One Number" That Derails Fundraisers Most founders believe their fundraising fails because of market size, competition, or valuation. In reality, the single most common cause of early deal-kill in 2026 is Net Dollar Retention (NDR) / Cohort Churn misalignment. When institutional VCs run due diligence, they look straight past top-line ARR growth to test the underlying retention health: • High acquisition with high churn is just expensive customer acquisition. • Expansion revenue from existing logos (NDR > 110%+) proves true product-market fit and pricing power. Before going to market, founders must ensure their core operational data room tells a clear, undeniable story about customer retention and payback periods. At G+QUANT we partner with early-stage founders to structure institutional-grade investment decks, data rooms, and capital strategies that withstand rigorous VC due diligence. Founders: Have you stress-tested your retention cohort metrics prior to initiating your next round?
