Digital marketing for therapy is a juggling act. It’s a balance between: 🔸 SEO optimization 🔸 Branding and AI entity recognition 🔸 Establising authority and expertise in a healthcare domain 🔸Establishing trust without being able to solicit reviews or testimonials 🔸 Being general enough to capture traffic 🔸 Being specific enough to match your ideal client’s needs 🔸Writing copy that feels human and authentic while also considering all of the above I’ve been piecing this altogether myself because I don’t feel like an SEO agency has the ability to synthesize the blend of things I’m looking for and I don’t want to pay for generic copy and yesterday’s strategies that are rapidly becoming obsolete. I built my entire 60 page website and online footprint from scratch. This is not an invitation for a pitch. I’m sharing this for other therapists because my sense is that the digital landscape is changing faster than most can keep up and professional SEO services are a huge expense most therapists can’t afford or justify. At the same time, solo therapists are being squeezed out by corporate takeover of directories pointing back to Headway or Alma, etc. The BetterHelp’s of the industry are still at work bombarding with ads. And search is changing with the introduction of AI and zero click search. I think the best chance at preserving the profession and the value of niche therapy by a non-burned out therapist is through highly local and strategic digital marketing. Whenever I get tired of my efforts I remind myself it’s about more than “getting clients.” It’s resistance against private equity sweat shops and healthcare systems that don’t serve individuals, only the bottom line, by population level saturation and statistics. They deploy capital for a return, not an outcome or an impact. The underdog can still beat them with the right strategy and persistent hard work. ChatGPT is a great equalizer and force multiplier for this. What are your thoughts?

LinkedIn is dominated by marketers. But if you're in an obscure, non-marketing niche, the market demand is yours for the taking. Over the past 2 weeks I've had sales conversations and client conversations with people in some of these obscure niches. • People selling enterprise contracts to universities and non-profits. • People selling high-ticket B2B services with $200k-$2M LTVs. • Incredible retention rates. Many of these businesses are quietly doing mid 7 figures to mid 8 figures per year. And nobody on X, LinkedIn, YouTube, or Instagram have heard of them. They've grown through grass-roots marketing. Referrals. Partnerships. Sales teams. But they've never posted a piece of content from their personal brands. And neither have their competitors. Having worked in some of these industries, they are absolutely my favorite. Blue ocean. The age of personal branding is just beginning 📈

Search preference changes by state and region. For example, some states use the term "PHP" while others use "day treatment." Here, we can see how residents of some states prefer "adolescent" vs. "teen." Part of marketing and SEO is researching the differences in user behavior and preference.

✨I live in a small town full of small business owners, who don’t understand marketing.✨ I don’t say that to be mean… I say it because so many of their business marketing posts shared on community social media pages start like… “My business is going under. Please help. Buy my services at 50% off.” In the current economic climate, I get it. Desperation in your marketing content isn’t a tactic — it’s an earnest, heartfelt plea. But. 🚫It. Won’t. Work. For one thing, desperation will scare off potential buyers just about every time. For another…people just don’t care. That’s harsh, but stay with me. If you want to sell your services or products, don’t start out telling your audience or target market what they can do for you… 🌈SHOW them what your products or services can do for them. Flip the script. Instead of, “I’m desperate” Try, “here’s how my services can help solve a problem.” Specifically, I saw a post from a vent cleaning business. In ten minutes I researched the benefits of vent cleaning. I gently reached out and said, maybe you could try leading your posts with some benefits of vent cleaning… 🤧 You know, “Got allergies? Try vent cleaning” type of posts. The problem: spring allergies (both timely and wide-ranging) 📋 The solution: your vent cleaning But most business owners don’t want to hear it. Even when advice is given freely. And I’m convinced it’s a huge part of WHY many businesses fail in the first year, and many more within the first five years. 💡Ask not what your audience can do for you. Everyone talks about ‘knowing your audience’ - but here’s what that means in practice... [5 steps to make your content align with your ICP] If your content isn’t working, it’s probably not how often you’re posting. It’s whether your message is aligned with the right people, in the right way. Here’s how I ensure all my client’s content speaks to their ICP: (1) Get specific about who you’re talking to Not ‘coaches’ or ‘B2B businesses’ - but ‘time-poor coaches with a 1:1 offer’ ✅ The clearer the picture, the more targeted your message (2) Define their pain in THEIR words Think about what they’re googling at 11pm. What’s the problem behind the problem? ✅ Use language they would say out loud - not industry terms. (3) Learn how they make decisions Don’t just blast content at them - guide them. ✅ What do they need to understand, believe or feel before they’re ready to buy? (4) Position your offer as a direct solution Make the link between what they’re struggling with and how you help completely obvious. ✅ If they can’t connect the dots, they won’t convert. (5) Build content around their consumption behaviour When are they active? What content do they usually engage with? Do they read or scan? Do they hang out in the DM’s? ✅ Create for how they use social media. ICP-content alignment means more than just knowing your niche. It means building every part of your content and social media strategy around how your ideal client thinks, decides, and buys.
