Rodney K. Rogers shared thisBowling Green State University was proud to host today’s Advanced Manufacturing Summit! Thank you to Ryan Augsburger president of The Ohio Manufacturers' Association, for moderating today’s leadership panel and announcing Bowling Green’s designation as a Gold Star institution in the OMA’s inaugural Workforce Training Directory. We are one of only three public universities in Ohio to earn the highest distinction, which recognizes our commitment to preparing students for careers in an industry vital to Ohio’s economy. As a public university for the public good and as an anchor institution in our state, we are committed to partnering with industry, educators and communities to build a strong workforce and a thriving Ohio. Thank you to the manufacturers, students, educators, workforce partners and regional leaders who joined us to explore the future of advanced manufacturing. With Ohio ranking third in the nation for manufacturing jobs, this work matters.

Rodney K. Rogers shared thisThere was no shortage of things to do, places to be or college games to watch on this beautiful October weekend, yet thousands upon thousands of you chose Bowling Green State University, the Mid-American Conference, the Arts at Bowling Green, and, above all, our students. From one of the largest crowds at the Doyt in recent years to sellouts at both hockey games at the Slater Family Ice Arena, where so many cheered on our students in hard-fought battles until the very end, to full houses for An Evening of Broadway Songs and Stories with Ali Ewoldt and Phil Reno, Glow Bingo and celebrity magician Daniel Martin, we are grateful to everyone who made this weekend one to remember. The momentum at Bowling Green is driven by each of us, and we are so glad more and more students, families, alumni, supporters and community members continue to experience Bowling Green! Ay Ziggy Zoomba!

Rodney K. Rogers shared thisBowling Green State University mourns the passing of one of our most recognized and celebrated alumni, Academy Award and Emmy Award winner and legendary actress, Eva Marie Saint ‘46, ‘82 (Hon.). As a student, Eva Marie demonstrated what was possible at a university like Bowling Green, exploring career paths and discovering a talent for acting while at BGSU. With a legendary career that spanned an incredible seven decades, Eva Marie created a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry. Even with international acclaim, she remained kind, humble and grounded, never forgetting the people, places and priorities that shaped who she was and what she valued most. We are grateful for Eva Marie’s wisdom and unwavering support of Bowling Green State University throughout her distinguished career. She remained engaged with her alma mater for decades, and it was the University’s great honor to award Eva Marie with an honorary doctorate of performing arts in 1982, and later, a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. Today, and in all the years to follow, our students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community will visit the Eva Marie Saint Theatre in the Wolfe Centre for the Arts, named in honor of Eva Marie, a distinguished alumna. On a personal note, Sandy and I deeply enjoyed Eva Marie’s humor, humility and elegance, and will forever cherish our time with her. We send our deepest sympathies to Eva Marie’s family, especially her children, and her many loved ones. Hollywood, and Bowling Green, Ohio, are dimmer tonight.

Rodney K. Rogers shared thisThank you to Bloomberg News for featuring Bowling Green State University's successful navigation of the enrollment cliff, with continued momentum, record enrollment and student retention. Our success is rooted in a simple belief: How students go to college matters. That’s why we have doubled down on our commitment to each student’s experience, including our investment in Bowling Green's Career and Life Design program, which helps students intentionally connect their educational experience to a meaningful career and life. This is a reflection of our learning community’s focus on proving the value of public higher education, now more than ever. Bowling Green is so fortunate to be located in one of America's best and safest college towns, the City of Bowling Green, OH. Higher education is absolutely a driver of our collective economic vitality, and when universities thrive, communities do as well. We are so grateful for our students and their families, faculty and staff, alumni and donors, partners and supporters who continue to prove what is possible at a university like Bowling Green, a public university for the public good. Newell ‘75, senior partner at Mariner Wealth Advisors; William Shelt ‘81, ‘83, co-founder of M1 Support Services; and Geoffrey H. Their contributions to their industries and communities have created tremendous public good, and together they remind us of the impact of our alumni, graduates of a public university for the public good.

Rodney K. Rogers shared thisPresident Emeritus Mazey was a transformational leader for Bowling Green State University, shaping our academic growth and offerings, partnerships, numerous campus revitalization projects, philanthropic giving and an enhanced national profile for Bowling Green. As we began Bowling Green State University homecoming week, it was wonderful to gather together with our learning community and dedicate the Mary Ellen Mazey Quadrangle. At the heart of our campus, this space will forever stand as a reflection of her legacy.

I had the privilege of attending the Democracy and Public Policy Leadership Luncheon today at Bowling Green State University. Two takeaways on leadership and civic engagement truly stood out: ✨"Dialogue is the oxygen of democracy." 💡"Leaders need to be good listeners. You never learn anything when you’re talking." These serve as powerful reminders that progress starts with an open ear and a commitment to conversation. Grateful for the opportunity to learn alongside such a dedicated community! #BGSU #Leadership #PublicPolicy #CivicEngagement #ContinuousLearning

Big news from BGSU Programs in Economics and the BGSU Schmidthorst College of Business! Starting in Fall 2026, our Master of Arts in Financial Economics program will evolve into a Master of Science in Applied Economics — offering TWO exciting specializations: 1️⃣ Financial Economics: Built on MBA‑level finance courses, advanced economic theory, and econometrics. This specialization is perfect for careers in investment analysis, quantitative finance, corporate finance, and CFA‑aligned paths — where forecasting and economic reasoning are essential. 2️⃣ Data Analytics: Developed in collaboration with Applied Statistics faculty, this track combines advanced courses in statistics, data analytics, econometrics, and economic theory. Ideal for careers in quantitative analysis, risk modeling, business analytics, economic forecasting, and data science — where applied statistics, programming, and econometrics drive decisions. In either case, about 50% of your coursework is in your chosen specialization — Finance or Data Analytics — while the other half builds a strong foundation in economic theory and quantitative methods. If you have questions, please reach out to Isabel Zeng at zzeng@bgsu.edu or myself at wryley@bgsu.edu. For more updates, follow BGSU Programs in Economics here on LinkedIn!

I liked this article by Tawnya Means for its synthesis of multiple data sets about how students would like to see AI integrated into their education and skill sets. I have been a bit slower to integrate AI into my classes because I have been trying to develop AI assignments that encourage strategic critical thinking and problem solving. I am starting to do it, and the results are promising. Tawnya has been working with BGSU this year, credit to Neil Baird for leading a BGSU faculty community on AI Literacy and to 'Jon (Sean) Jasperson for posting Tawyna's article. https://lnkd.in/gfg2gaNr

Real leadership requires the courage to look inward. I recently spoke about implicit bias with a group of students — not as a concept, but as a responsibility. No one is immune. We can live out this responsibility by: ✨ Building awareness ✨ Interrupt automatic thinking ✨ Change our behavior Great leaders lead with intention. We can start by taking the Harvard Implicit Association Test to learn what lives beneath the surface. Let's get curious about ourselves so we can continuously do better for one another. https://lnkd.in/gjk-YWNV #EthicalCourage #ValuesBasedLeadership #ImplicitBias #BusinessEthics

This slide from the opening plenary discussion at the 2026 #EFMDannual Conference emphasizes the qualities that not only distinguish human contribution but also leverage and complement AI’s role in facilitating analytical and routine tasks. Our role is not just to teach people how to solve problems, but to help them navigate ambiguity, exercise sound judgment, build confidence without arrogance, and broaden their perspectives through meaningful engagement with diverse ideas and people. These capabilities may be among the most valuable skills for the future of work and leadership. #AI #Leadership #FutureOfWork #HigherEducation #Learning #CriticalThinking #ProfessionalDevelopment #GlobalMindset

Bowling Green State University's new Technology Engineering Innovation Center recently opened its doors to students from the School of Engineering and the College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering. The extensive renovation and expansion of the University’s 1970s-era Industrial Education and Technology Building provides students with state-of-the-art learning environments and cutting-edge technology to support experiential learning and collaborative research. Dean of the College of Engineering and Innovation Dr. Wael Mokhtar called the project an “innovation model,” adding, “students can create relationships and a sense of mutual learning. That’s more valuable than anything else, and I think the way this building is designed will have a huge impact on students.” Click on the link to learn more about the project. https://lnkd.in/ggP2uDiy Architect-of-Record: The Collaborative + Acock General Contractor: Mosser

IMPRESSIVE!! 💪 Bowling Green State University is one of only three universities in the country to receive this NCAA research grant! Proud to see BGSU Sport Management faculty Dr. Yoonki Chun and Dr. Meredith Flaherty leading impactful work at the national level. They’ve been selected to develop a program aimed at protecting student-athletes from the negative effects of sports betting which is an increasingly critical issue in collegiate athletics. This recognition reflects the innovation, leadership, and real-world impact happening within our academic community. Bowling Green State University continues to be a leader in leveraging autonomous technology to support our Campus Operations team in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, faculty/staff, and guests. Since launching our first fleet of autonomous commercial vacuums in 2020 (first in Ohio), we’ve expanded our program to include autonomous mowers, field line painters, and floor scrubbers. . Averaging over 142,000 square feet a month of verified cleaning from our floor scrubbers, we are looking to upgrade our current fleet to further enhance efficiency and innovation across campus. If your organization sells or leases autonomous floor scrubbers, we encourage you to review the opportunity and submit a proposal. An RFP is now open on our Bid Express page. https://lnkd.in/g29DSTd5. Submissions are due by December 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM. We’re excited to continue expanding our autonomous technology offerings in support of our amazing Campus Operations staff.

I enjoyed my first time on campus today at Bowling Green State University and the Schmidhorst College of Business presenting at Great Lakes AI Week on Human+AI cognitive partnerships. The core idea: we're not training people to use AI. We're training humans to think at a higher level with AI. The real skill isn't prompting tricks or technical know-how. It's learning how to think with AI as a cognitive partner. Using it as a coach that challenges your assumptions, a tutor that scaffolds your learning, a simulator for high-stakes practice, and a reflection partner that reveals your blind spots. We did a live demo with ChatGPT voice to show what this actually looks like in practice. Watching the techniques play out in real-time made the difference between passive information consumption and active knowledge construction really clear. Thanks to everyone who joined the conversation today.
