Located at the front of each store, the Deal Bar is described by the retailer as a curated, one-stop destination for on-trend gifts, seasonal merchandise and everyday essentials, with all items priced under $10. The assortment will be refreshed throughout the year. The concept was launched in early February with party supplies, serving dishes and games tied to the Super Bowl, as well as Valentine’s Day merchandise. Additional offerings include Easter decorations, candles, craft projects, activity books and fitness-related products such as jump ropes and yoga blocks. Nordstrom’s merchandising strategy for 2026 centers on collaborating with brands to meet their specific needs and strengthen customer engagement, Chief Merchandising Officer Jamie Nordstrom says. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the retailer’s emphasis on storytelling and authentic consumer connections has contributed to the success of brands including Skims, On and Vuori. The company plans to expand its luxury business, enhance its shoe assortment and revitalize its beauty category to attract younger shoppers. Costco Wholesale’s strong corporate culture has been a key driver of its performance, according to Forbes. The retailer’s culture was established by founder Jim Sinegal and continues under CEO Ron Vachris, who has been with the company for 43 years. The company’s approach to employee welfare, including higher wages and benefits, has resulted in high employee retention rates, the report said. This emphasis on internal promotion and workforce investment contributed to an 8.1% increase in net sales last year. Amazon has proposed building a 225,000-square-foot retail store in Oak Brook, IL, replacing existing office buildings, according to a report by Retail TouchPoints. The project, which awaits approval from local planning authorities, would also include a 150,000-square-foot Ashley Furniture flagship store.
