Last week we held our annual NYC executive dinner, this year on the theme of AI. Terminator meets Matrix. Everyone was a Cyberdyne employee for the evening, with a workstation number on the badge and a red pill or blue pill to choose from. A few things I learned: 1. A T-800 delivers a gluten-free line better than most humans. 2. If you ask an AI to punch up your jokes, it will tell you they are great. That is how I knew it was already learning to lie. 3. Dessert is better when HAL 9000 is involved. "I'm sorry, Dave, I can't let you skip the petit fours." Huge thanks to our co-hosts at Deloitte. Wonderful partners and great company. And a giant thank you to Chef Jean-Georges and his team at Four Twenty Five. The food was spectacular, and the kitchen fabricated a gorgeous Hall 9000 dessert. Most of all, thank you to everyone who came. The best part of this dinner is still the people at the tables. AI will change a lot about our business. But a great room, good wine and people who pick up the phone are still hard to automate. See you next year. I'll be back. #AI #MediaIndustry #Deloitte #JeanGeorges #Terminator

We could feel the energy on set -- partly because of the iconic locations we had access to -- many of which haven't ever been used for filming -- and that was really the Eiffel Tower elevator that Omar Sy was standing on in ep 2. It's also one of my favorite examples of the Netflix Effect. 10 weeks after season 1 launched, Maurice Leblanc’s original novel had sold over 140,000 copies – more than in the previous 10 years combined. Places connected to the story – from Paris to Normandy – saw an uptick in visitors, with fans wanting to discover the places they’d seen on the screen. And the show has contributed more than €90 million to the French economy, supporting 600+ businesses. All from a character first written about in 1905. And S4 will continue to drive that impact well beyond the series.
