Maya Burns Bernard shared this2025 was a year of becoming. I became a Manager—and a Mom. Professionally, I was promoted to Manager of Global Client Capabilities in McKinsey People & Organizational Performance Practice. In this role, I shaped how we go to market and serve clients across our Leadership and Talent offerings, with a focus on strategic workforce planning and leadership amid AI. Working with practitioners around the world, I translated real client challenges into scalable expertise—strengthening our offerings so they reflect the realities leaders are navigating every day. In a moment defined by uncertainty, I’ve learned that courage, humility, and continual learning are what will move us towards the future we seek. With the sponsorship of my manager Amelia Oliveira, and Senior Partners Ramesh Srinivasan and Vincent Bérubé, I was emboldened to use my voice fully. I encouraged our leaders to complement their focus on delivering results by considering who decisions impact. This opened space to reflect on second- and third-order effects of the kind of future we are creating together. To me, this is what is required of us at this moment in time. And then came the most meaningful promotion of all: Mom 💗 In October, Harold and I welcomed a healthy baby girl, and we could not be more joyful! Parenthood has a way of reshaping who we are—not by pulling our attention elsewhere, but by sharpening it. This new chapter has reaffirmed my commitment to lead with intention, care, and a long-term view of the world our decisions leave behind. As I look ahead to 2026, I’m energized by the work still to come and am committed to leading with clarity, courage, and care.

Maya Burns Bernard shared thisHappy 2024 International Women's Day and congratulations Katrina M. Adams on this exceptional Olympic honor! I had the privilege of working alongside Katrina on CBS Sports' We Need to Talk, the first all-women's sports talk show. Over the past decade (😲), the landscape of women's sports has changed dramatically for the better. It is leaders like Katrina that are instrumental in opening doors for girls and underrepresented youth through sport. Sport creates opportunities, builds leaders, and fosters teamwork (and I think we can all agree that we can always use more of that!). This year is special as Paris 2024 will be the first Olympic Games' with an equal number of female and male athletes competing! Key word equal. Now, that's a milestone. #InternationalWomensDay #EqualityinSportsKatrina Adams named Global Winner of the 2023 IOC Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Champions AwardKatrina Adams named Global Winner of the 2023 IOC Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Champions Award

So, I taught myself a new skill: dictation. Now, I wish to share my learnings with you in an effort to reduce strain on our bodies and develop more sustainable digital habits.Dictation software: Old tech, relevant useDictation software: Old tech, relevant useMaya Burns Bernard

Maya Burns Bernard shared thisOne of the biggest difficulties in navigating health challenges is the habit change imminently required for healing. There is (often) no quick fix. Those close to me know that I’ve been navigating a repetitive stress injury since the start of the pandemic. And as a former d1 athlete, it’s been quite a jarring experience. I’ve learned a lot over the past few years. Despite my quest to cultivate stillness, action is in my nature - so I’m turning my pain into power. #digitalhealth #habitchange #wristpainMaya Burns Bernard shared this🌿 🚨 New blog post alert! Maya Burns Bernard liked thisMaya Burns Bernard liked thisA month in, I'm excited to officially share that I've joined Peloton Interactive as Head of Partnerships, overseeing Brand and Creators partnerships. Last fall, I experienced Peloton's activation during the Las Vegas Grand Prix at the Wynn. It reinforced something I've come to believe about the brand: Peloton is in a class of its own when it comes to creating experiences beyond its core product while remaining unmistakably Peloton. What excites me most is the opportunity ahead. The enthusiasm from brands, creators, and cultural partners to build with Peloton reflects the unique role the brand plays at the intersection of fitness and culture. I'm grateful for the warm welcome from so many teammates and excited to work alongside leaders across the organization, including Megan Imbres, Dion Camp Sanders, Katie Hawkins, Melissa Parker Hughes, and many others helping shape what's next. Stay tuned. We've got some exciting things in motion. (and oh yea…Knicks in 5! 🧡💙)

Maya Burns Bernard liked thisMaya Burns Bernard liked thisAI isn’t failing because of technology. It’s failing because of readiness. At Workhuman Live in Orlando, Holly Price and I (McKinsey & Company)- better known (at least to us) as “The Drewlly Show” - unpacked a paradox we’re seeing everywhere: 👉 AI demand is skyrocketing 👉 Investment is massive 👉 88% of companies are transforming …but only a small fraction are seeing real impact at scale Why? Because most organizations are over-indexing on tech… and underinvesting in people. A few takeaways we shared: • Employees are more ready than leaders think (70% vs. 27%) • Trust is a critical unlock (low trust → 1.5x more anxiety) • The biggest value from AI isn’t just cost - it’s innovation, employee & customer satisfaction, and competitive differentiation At the end of the day, everyone also simply agreed: If you don’t bring your people along…the best tech in the world will fall flat! #AITransformation #FutureOfWork #Leadership #ChangeManagement

Maya Burns Bernard liked thisMaya Burns Bernard liked thisThis is the face of a woman who is absolutely terrified. 5 months postpartum and back at work. Trying to balance her professional ambition with the new rhythms of motherhood. Confused about why she's having a hard time focusing on work with the same intensity. Paralyzed by guilt every moment she's not thinking about her baby. Mourning her former life that this baby seems to have taken away (cue the guilt spiral!). And mostly just feeling tired all the time. I want to tell her that she is a great mom, but that it's not the only measure of her worth. We are multitudes, and just as her work doesn't define who she is, neither does this new role. Most of all, I would tell her that she needs to ask for help. Postpartum depression is a lonely place to be, especially for someone who has convinced themselves of their unwavering resilience. But it's incredibly common, and the best thing you can do to shake those demons is to start naming them. My daughter was born on Mother's Day, and tomorrow she turns 5. I've come a long way since then, and there are plenty of things I get wrong every day. But I remain grounded in the fact that while motherhood is a (huge) part of who I am, it is not my entirety. And I owe it to my no-so-little girl to show what it looks like to be your unapologetic self. I raise a glass to all of the other mothers out there who are doing the same.

Maya Burns Bernard liked thisMaya Burns Bernard liked thisAfter an incredible 10 years, Friday marked my last day with McKinsey & Company. Leaving a place that has challenged, stretched, and shaped me in so many ways wasn’t an easy decision. When I first joined the Firm, I was a new Associate, trying to find that one thing that excited me the most. Ten years later, I have not only found a home in consumer / retail, but I have also grown my heart to include colleagues whom have become close friends and a family with two children (and partner) who light up my life every day. I’m deeply grateful for the brilliant colleagues, the high standards, and the opportunity to work on problems that truly mattered. The experience has fundamentally changed how I think, lead, and approach complexity. That said, I’m excited to share that I’ll be joining Ross Stores, Inc. as a Group Vice President in Strategy where I’ll have the opportunity to build more directly, take on new challenges, and continue growing in different ways. To everyone I’ve worked with along the way—thank you. Onwards and upwards!
