Matt Dyor reposted thisMatt Dyor reposted thisShopify went full native; trivago went to KMP! I am happy to share that trivago mobile apps are now end-to-end written with #kotlin_multiplatform. We managed to reuse UI from the Android side (Jetpack Compose) and business logic from the iOS side (Redux architecture) and deliver the new app in a matter of weeks! I want to emphasize a few things: - Redux architecture works AMAZING with Compose. We literally translated Swift to Kotlin, used the power of StateFlow and data classes, and got an amazing codebase. - We used frontier AI models to help us with the migration. As a matter of fact, around 95% of the code was written by AI - 95% of the UI is shared I would like to thank the app engineering and the QA team that were on fire, as we did almost 700 tasks in 10 weeks. Also, big thanks to JetBrains who offered support in this migration process. #KMP #Kotlin #Trivago #JetBrains

Big thanks to the Kotlin Foundation team, and also everyone who supported my work along the way 🙌 This is based on KAppMaker, which I’ve been building and improving for the last 2 years and already used in 10+ apps. Michael Yagudaev nice. So how are you keeping iOS and Android codebases in sync? Sounds like you are leading with Swift...do you then pull the swift code over to your Mac mini for Android, or do you share the prompts across both? Thanks!

Matt Dyor liked thisMatt Dyor liked this✨ A Sabbatical Story: Unlocking creativity with Minecraft & AI ✨ I've spent much of this year bonding with my son over Minecraft, helping him make his ideas real with AI. During this sabbatical, I took on the challenge of releasing these projects to the wild - and learned a ton in the process. Links to the projects are in the comments for anyone interested in giving them a spin! ⌚ Moddy the Wish Watch ⌚ After building tons of mods together (see Buddy Builder below), my son asked: “What if I had a watch that makes mods *inside* of Minecraft?” Over a weekend, with the help of my brother's open-source CBScript Minecraft scripting language, I built something cool - you could type "I want [anything]" and it would make it for you. But - like many AI prototypes - it was slow and error prone. To get the consistency, quality, and speed I needed, I built dozens of MCP's, hundreds of evals, and a ridiculous amount of prompt tuning. Moddy now lets you wish for nearly anything - buildings, creatures, items, natural disasters - with truly custom abilities - from scratch, within 15-45 seconds. Moddy is now a Minecraft server that anyone who meets age requirements can connect to. Zero installers, backed by a scalable and cost-optimized multi-VM architecture on GCP. My favorite wish? "A T-rex I ride; when we jump it stomps enemies!" - give it a whirl! 🔧 Buddy Builder 🔧 This is what started it all. My son loved Minecraft but wanted to do things that were impossible to build natively in Minecraft. So I built a project template, set of skills, and automated test scaffolding that over time allowed my son to build 100+ features in Minecraft - a drivable Corvette, an arcade with prizes, a battle arena to make mobs fight each other, whole life-scale cities - and much more. Buddy Builder is now an open source project that talks at a kid's level, and turns their ideas into reality via thorough verification loops. It's available via one-command setup on Mac or Windows. 👾 Minecraft Mod Version Upgrader 👾 The Minecraft modding community is exceptionally diverse. Some mods my son loved were stuck on older Minecraft versions though; he was frustrated when he couldn't mix and match mods because of version mismatches. So I built an AI-powered tool that now catalogues 500+ patterns, deterministic Python converters, and a cost-optimized LLM loop that's migrated dozens of mods. I went many steps further when I open sourced this - skills that can keep "community forks" of mods up to date across versions, validate them with UI scripting that tests their unique per-mod storylines, and deploy them to public mod distribution sites - all with license and consent checks to make sure the authors are in control. 🤔 What I learned: 🤔 I learned a ton about how to make LLM-based products consistent and efficient; cost-optimizing by blending the best of generative and deterministic; and deploying at speed and scale with high-quality verification loops.
