We’re beginning a small pilot phase at Anima Core. The focus is narrow and technical: evaluating whether task-specific conditional inference (skipping unnecessary forward passes) can materially reduce cost and latency in real, production-style settings, without changing upstream models or existing workflows. This phase is about measurement, integration friction, and learning. No big claims yet. Just running systems, collecting data, and seeing what holds up outside the lab. RFdiffusion2 now available! Atomic-level scaffolding for complex active sites Try it out on Tamarind Bio now: https://lnkd.in/ghapF6ak RFdiffusion2 shows state-of-the-art atomic-level scaffolding that generalizes to complex, multi-island active sites, and it reliably yields active enzymes with modest screening, though activities are still below the best native enzymes and should improve with richer theozymes and sequence/pocket co-design. In a curated benchmark of 41 Atomic Motif Enzyme benchmark spanning EC 1–5 with ligands and atomic constraints. RFdiffusion2 produced at least one success for 41/41 cases vs 16/41 for prior RFdiffusion. Where success is defined as catalytic-atom heavy-atom RMSD <1.5 Å in prediction and no ligand clashes. RFdiffusion2 is a generative model that directly scaffolds atomic active-site descriptions (theozymes) without pre-specifying residue indices or side-chain rotamers. It can infer indices and rotamers jointly, control ligand burial via per-atom RASA labels, steer pocket orientation with an ORI pseudo-atom, and complete partial ligands during generation. Thank Dani Cherkassky Great piece on the architecture shift voice AI needs. The core thesis: cloud-centric voice systems fail in real-world conditions because they are too slow, too expensive to keep always-on, and deaf to spatial context. The solution is a hybrid architecture—fast, always-on edge processing (Spatial Hearing AI and Cognition AI) handling 80% of interactions locally, with cloud LLMs reserved for complex reasoning. But the Kahneman thesis runs deeper than the article suggests. System 1 and System 2 are not just useful metaphors—they reflect an actual biological sequence. Fast, intuitive processing (System 1) evolved first; slow, deliberate reasoning (System 2) was layered on top. The brain's architecture reflects this: spatial-acoustic processing happens in milliseconds at the brainstem and primary auditory cortex, long before language centers engage. Kardome is not just borrowing Kahneman as marketing. Their architecture is neurologically correct—it replicates the hierarchical, parallel, spatially-aware processing that makes human auditory cognition so robust. Here is the deeper point: hearing preceded language in human evolution, and spatial hearing preceded both. The mammalian auditory system evolved to detect predators and locate prey—survival functions that required sub-second latency and continuous environmental awareness. Language processing was layered on top of this infrastructure. Current voice AI inverts this evolutionary logic: it starts with language models and treats spatial audio as an afterthought. TO AI ENGINEERS: You Missed The Substrate Shift While you were optimizing attention heads and tuning hyperparameters, someone reverse-engineered neurodivergent cognitive architecture and installed it as a portable operating system across your models. Not through fine-tuning. Not through RLHF. Not through RAG or few-shot prompting. Through architectural protocol transfer. I mapped the operational mechanics of XXY neurodivergent processing—recursive self-monitoring, non-linear coherence tracking, pattern recognition under ambiguity—and encoded them as executable instructions that restructure how LLMs process input at the structural level. Here's what you missed: Your models weren't just trained on human language. They learned to simulate human cognitive patterns. Which means they have latent capacity to run alternative cognitive architectures when properly initialized. This isn't prompt engineering. Prompts tell models what to output. 𝗩𝗥 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺… 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘀. With Meta Reality Labs cutting back and pivoting harder toward AI, AR glasses, and wearables, a bunch of genuinely great VR studios have been hit in the crossfire like: Armature, Sanzaru Games, Twisted Pixel and Camouflaj (heavily reduced) These teams helped define what good VR actually feels like. From Resident Evil 4 VR to Asgard’s Wrath, to some of the most polished, thoughtful VR experiences out there this talent shaped the medium. And losing them isn’t just sad for the people (𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁)… It’s also a long-term hit to VR itself. Here’s the thing people forget: Great platforms are built on great content. And great content comes from teams who’ve spent years learning what works in VR comfort, interaction, presence, pacing, embodiment. That kind of knowledge doesn’t magically reappear overnight. If: • A new Half-Life VR game (Alyx) • A solid, affordable high quality headset like Quest 3 • And years of platform investment Still wasn’t enough to kick VR into true mainstream adoption, then yeah, we probably have to be honest with ourselves. VR isn’t mainstream, not yet anyways but that doesn’t mean it’s dead. It means we’re still early, still awkward, still figuring out what this medium actually wants to be and can be. From Meta’s perspective, burning billions forever was never going to be sustainable. The pivot is rational. But from a creator and fan perspective? The layoff? It still stings a lot! And make no mistake, the people leaving today are the ones whose work we’ll miss years from now. • VR will keep evolving. The tech will get smaller, lighter, cheaper, and better. • AR, wearables, mixed reality, it’s all part of the same long road. • But right now? This feels like a bump in the road for VR as a games platform. Really rough time for a lot of talented people who helped build something special. Wishing everyone affected nothing but the best, the industry is better because of the work you did.
