Kerry Wang shared thisSomething I didn't think I'd be pondering last evening: Do the Zoox autonomous vehicles look more like toasters or bread? 🍞 I played a small role in hosting Harvard Alumni in Tech's Engineering Leaders at Accel moderated by the brilliant Jessica Li. Six founders and engineering leaders — Charlie Cheever, Florian Juengermann, Max Lu, Rachael Fuller, Zara Zhang, and Traci Gadow — and it led to most engaged audience Q&A! A few things that stuck with me: Charlie (Quora, Expo): In a world flooded with AI-generated content, tastemakers become more important, not less. Zara (ByteDance): Have a genuine opinion about what needs to be different. That's the whole job. Max (Decagon): The real unlock in AI isn't bigger models. It's smaller, faster ones that actually follow instructions. Florian (Listen Labs): Deliberately expose yourself to hard things — his example was quantum theory. Not to become a quantum physicist, but to build the mental muscle for complexity. Rachael (Replit): Giving someone who's never driven a car the keys to a Ferrari can be terrifying. The experience design has to meet people where they are. Traci (Zoox): The team lovingly calls their robotaxi "the toaster." The design philosophy is to make the user feel smart, not overwhelmed. That's great product thinking at any scale. Rooms like this are my favorite part of the job.

Agents are accelerating the pace of technology, but we need to build resilient systems they can safely use." "We're still figuring out technical interviews in this new world. Loved meeting everyone from the Harvard Undergraduate Society for Artificial Intelligence while they were in San Francisco on a week-long trek over spring break. So fun to hear the students’ razor-sharp questions, swap stories from Gamma and their internships, trade life advice (we asked for theirs, too), and hang out with one of my favorite founders-turned-VCs. For years, the best marketers had the vision but not the bandwidth. Agents change the equation. Marketers can now single handedly execute campaigns on every channel. On top of a strong foundation by their data & creative teams. We're enabling this shift and seeing it play out at the biggest brands in the world. The thing I feel most is gratitude. For our investors, customers, team, mentors, family, and friends for taking a bet on Kashish Gupta, Josh Curl, and myself and making this all possible. We are just getting started.

Today, the WSJ broke the news that Hightouch has raised $150M at a $2.75B valuation to build the AI platform for marketers. It's an amazing, public day of celebration for us, and it’s a milestone we don’t take lightly. But the thing I’m truly grateful for is working at a place where every day feels like a private celebration of what highly-motivated and talented people can build together. This is a culture that pushes me to learn and grow, surrounded by colleagues who care deeply about developing their craft and skills. It’s a place where we’re perpetually pushing the bar in terms of the quality and care we bring to our customer relationships. I joined Hightouch 3.5 years ago after being a customer because I experienced that myself. ~$100M of annual recurring revenue later, that core customer obsession and speed of execution hasn’t changed. They’re the foundation everything else is built on – including this raise. Thank you to our lead investors Goldman Sachs and Bain Capital Ventures (BCV) and our newest strategic investor, The Trade Desk/TD7. We also appreciate the continued support of ICONIQ, Amplify Partners, Sapphire Ventures, and Y Combinator. Kerry Wang reacted on thisKerry Wang reacted on thisA year ago, I left investing to operate at Avoca. Day one on the job, I was on a plane to Vegas for a home services conference. Day two, I was on stage with Flo Rida (pic below). Pretty clear early on this was going to be a different kind of ride. The reason I made the move: while most of the AI conversation is focused on knowledge work, the front office of service businesses still runs on the phone. Missed calls, long hold times, and slow follow-up translate directly into lost revenue. That's what we're building at Avoca - an AI workforce for the businesses that keep the physical world running. Excited to share our latest fundraise and partner with an incredible group: Leigh Marie Braswell at Kleiner Perkins, Vedant Suri at General Catalyst, Alex C. at Meritech Capital, and many other incredible investors and friends. Grateful to be building alongside Tyson Chen, Apurva Shrivastava, and the rest of the team. The services economy runs the real world. We're building the AI workforce it deserves. Kerry Wang reacted on thisKerry Wang reacted on thisHappy to share that I’ve been promoted to Staff Technical Lead Manager! It’s been a big year ay Wayve - we scaled up autonomous operations across 4 countries, grew our team to over 1,000 people, raised a Series D, and are now laying the groundwork for a Robotaxi service later this year. Behind the scenes, I’ve been in the “trenches” of pushing forward the on-road performance of our driving models amidst all this change - making algorithmic improvements to RL training while also onboarding new team members and weathering record long CI/CD wait times 😬. Amusingly, this period of company growth has made me more interested in the “keeping the lights on” work behind production deep learning systems. I’ve been spending more time on monitoring pipelines and new test coverage frameworks that allow us to detect regressions in our training workloads before they de-rail a large-scale experiment. This feels like a high-leverage thing to spend time on, since the alternative is that experiments get bottlenecked by unstable training jobs, or (worse) confounded by subtle bugs. Looking ahead to this coming year, I’m going to be building out a team focused on feature integration. We’ll continue working on training stability and correctness, but will also tackle streamlining operational processes for getting new features shipped to our production models, so that we can unlock shipping more features, faster, across a growing number of product offerings 🙌
