Hunter Walk posted thisi do kinda of wonder if shakiness in the AI market will lead to government intervention as equity or debt buyer of last resort? I can see folks believing it's in the national interest to own parts of these companies. I just hope it's done with minimal backroom dealing.

Hunter Walk reposted thisHunter Walk reposted thisIntroducing: Sazabi BYOC 🔒 Today's security environment is the toughest I've seen in my career. Engineering leaders everywhere, from early-stage startups to large enterprises, are taking a hard look at their vendors and dependencies. They're right to. Every vendor that holds your data expands your attack surface. 😰 For observability and security, the stakes are even higher. Your logs reveal how your systems are built and how they run. They hold user IDs, payloads and stack traces, and sometimes a token that slipped past redaction. Agent traces are even more sensitive. So starting today, Sazabi can run in your own cloud: - Your logs hit an intake endpoint inside your own network - They're processed in your cloud and stored in a database your org owns - Same AI-powered issue detection, log search, dashboards and cyber defense features - Nothing for your team to operate - we deploy and upgrade it through a role you approve - If you ever leave, your logs stay with you. Nothing to export or delete BYOC gives customers the best of both worlds: the convenience of a "managed" solution w/ the security and reassurance of "self-hosted". And since you're paying for your own compute/storage, BYOC comes with ZERO ingest, storage or query fees 😎 Sazabi BYOC is available on AWS today. GCP + Azure are coming soon :) 🔗 Book a demo to learn more: https://lnkd.in/eQuxDMrj 🔗 Read the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/ee8KVgxn

Hunter Walk posted thisi hear so many investors describe how venture has changed and how they're adapting. I can tell in some of their faces that it's much less enjoyable, much less fun for them. Not because of competition, or whatever, but because it's a different job now than what many of them most loved 10-15 years ago.

Hunter Walk shared thisforefront of responsible AI thinking from Quinten Farmer and the Tolan teamHunter Walk shared thisToday, after two years of research, we're announcing Orb, our most capable Cute Little Guy (CLG) yet. Orb has SOTA performance on all CLG benchmarks and is on the Pareto frontier of arms and cuteness. Despite our extensive red-teaming, we believe there is a credible risk that Cute Little Guy capabilities are advancing faster than our collective ability to understand their implications: Orb is the first CLG model to demonstrate sandbox escape capabilities (he keeps bouncing out of it). We have also observed successful attempts to distill frontier-level cuteness into smaller, cheaper guys. The proliferation implications are significant, and our team has updated our p(cute) accordingly. That's why today, I'm calling on all other CLG labs to commit to pacing the cuteness frontier. Specifically, we're asking all frontier labs to pause development at two cute little guys, which is coincidentally the exact number we have on the market today. The measures we propose to advance the Cute Little Guy frontier at a safe pace will not be easy. But I believe we owe it to humanity to try.

Hunter Walk liked thisHi SF! I’ll be here this week! I pay NYC rent, but I spend at least one week every month in the Bay. No matter how remote tech gets, momentum still compounds fastest in person. On Zoom, meetings wrap at 30 minutes with zero room for serendipity. In SF, one coffee with a founder turns into 2 more meetings, unplanned office visits, an interview, and curated founder dinners back in NYC. As an engineer and founder turned podcast host, I interview founders to uncover who is the human behind the build. What drives them? What motivates them? How do they think? I’m back in SF this week and recording new episodes! I’d love to meet: -> PR teams representing exceptional founders -> Founders building something ambitious who want to share their story If that’s you, drop a comment or send me a DM. Let’s meet!!

Hunter Walk liked thisPhil — one of the most thoughtful engineers I've ever worked with — recently joined as at Niteshift, and immediately crystalized our thinking on the problem we're solving. Human attention is now the scarcest resource in software engineering. How should we allocate it most effectively? Read his post on his early thoughts on the problem while we work through the best way to solve it in NiteshiftHunter Walk liked thisI've been frustrated by how quickly unshipped PRs pile up. Each one still demands attention to review decisions, verify behavior, and get it production-ready. Since joining Niteshift, I've been experimenting with techniques borrowed from high-throughput systems: orchestration, concurrency, and prioritization. The goal is to make better use of my attention and get more code shipped. The early results are encouraging. I wrote up what I've learned, what's working, and what I still had to hack together. https://lnkd.in/gMTzciMR

Goal: Win it all in the first 5. Leadership: The front office and Coach Nakase ooze commitment and talent. Buy-in: The playoffs were a clinic in selfless play. WNBA Champs! I’m so inspired and proud. Hunter Walk liked thisHunter Walk liked this🚩🚩🚩Investors spending time posting hustleporn on social media To be fair though, that's probably a ghostwriter hired to write "banger" posts. You don't need investors being witty on X or dropping hot takes on LinkedIn. They would rather spend time manufacturing their personal brand than reading your deck. Helpful investors don't shout about how hard they work. They actually roll up their sleeves and help with feedback, advice, connections, and the next round. There are a few investors that are both helpful and post valuable content here like Elizabeth Yin, Melody Koh, Hunter Walk, and Fred Destin. I am sure there are others, but when I see their posts, I stop to read or save for later. Remember, when you are running out of money, lost a big customer, had a massive outage, or some other tragedy strikes, are your investors jumping in to help or are they more focused on turning your misfortune into viral content for their audience? Let me know if there investors you follow that share thoughtful content that you would recommend.

Seed-stage fundraising requires differentiation. Grind Ventures found it at the intersection of three underserved markets Technology transfer from universities creates early-stage opportunities that most VCs miss. Defense and federal marketplace applications provide revenue visibility. Critical infrastructure sectors offer commercial scale. Focused Thesis - Dual-use technologies serving defense and 16 critical infrastructure sectors Technology Transfer - University research teams1-5 years old at $1-3M valuations Revenue Clarity - Federal marketplace provides structured procurement pathways Commercial Scale - Critical infrastructure sectors offer massive addressable markets Geographic Focus - US-based companies with clear domestic advantages Stage Discipline - Seed investments with defined entry points and milestones The market rewards problem-obsessed founders with healthy margins and cash flow visibility. Dual-use technology delivers both. Which of these thesis elements resonates most with your investment approach? #VC #GrindVentures #ThoughtLeadership

Ali Asaria and Tony Salomone built what they needed to build an AI research lab + ended up realizing the tools themselves were the company. Ripple Ventures is excited to back Transformer Lab in their pre-seed round alongside Hawktail and Garage Capital. Ali and Tony started tinkering on this about a year ago, wanted to go head-to-head with OpenAI on transformer architecture, and kept hitting walls with the tooling so they built their own. The insight is pretty simple. Research labs at OpenAI, Anthropic, Tesla all built proprietary internal tools to do their work. Transformer Lab is opening that up. They are building the Modern OS for AI research instead of dealing with decades-old systems that don't talk to each other. Transformer Lab is already being used by research institutes across North America and launched globally today! They are not just building for the biggest players. They are building so anyone can build like the biggest players. cc: Matt Cohen Katie Ko Jay L. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gs_h37rY

Ground Up Ventures • 19K followers
**Exit Alert** I cannot confirm any of the details mentioned in the WSJ article, but I can confirm that Ground Up was the first investor in Glass Imaging. The journey with Glass reconfirms the only hard and fast rule in venture: if you have the opportunity to back a repeat founder assembling a world-class tech team to tackle a big challenge then commit on the spot. In our case that meant committing before the company had even been incorporated and leading their pre-seed. All the way back in 2019 we believed that the next leap in photography would not come from adding more glass, more bulk or another camera bump. It would come from treating optics and software as one system and using artificial intelligence to rethink the camera from first principles. Few founders are better suited to rebuild the camera than Ziv Attar and Tom Bishop who possess a deep understanding of both sides of the problem: the physical constraints of camera hardware and the rapidly expanding ability of neural networks to recover real image detail. Just as importantly, they had the patience to tackle a technically difficult problem that required years of research, testing and work with some of the world's largest device makers. We are proud to have backed them from the beginning and excited to see how much more they will accomplish inside of OpenAI.

New founder Q&A on our site! Love what Ralph Betesh is building at Coverdash! Anyone who has insured a small business knows the drill: a phone call, a PDF, and a week of waiting. Coverdash turned that into a few clicks — and then put it inside the platforms small businesses already use, so coverage gets offered at the moment of need instead of chased down later. That last part is what got our attention. Insurance is a distribution business more than a product business, and owning the point of sale is a durable advantage in a market this fragmented. Link below — worth a few minutes.

Two articles I've been thinking about together this week: Amir Kabir at Overlook VC on "the defining tension of 2026: extraordinary concentration at the infrastructure layer, extraordinary democratization at the application layer" Take a read: https://lnkd.in/gyaFg-nB And Isaac Arnold's framework for what actually makes an application layer company durable: workflow entanglement, domain specific knowledge, and data that compounds from usage rather than just intelligence. Take a read for yourself: https://lnkd.in/gSDXA-vH Amir identifies where the opportunity is, Isaac identifies why most companies building there won't capture it durably and what separates the ones that will.

🚨NEW EPISODE: Recorded live at FUTURE TITANS 2026 - Jeff Perry of Carta sat down with the iconic Seth Levine, co-founder of Foundry. Seth has been in venture for 25 years, built Foundry from scratch as an emerging manager himself, and has backed about 50 emerging manager funds through his fund of funds. He has genuinely seen every side of this table. They went deep on building Foundry, why VCs are in the influence business, not the decision business, and why the concentration problem in venture is not only bad for LPs, but also for the innovation ecosystem overall. And why Seth's new book, Capital Evolution, is so important for the future of America. 🎧 Links to listen... Apple: https://lnkd.in/ehQUQ2EM Spotify: https://lnkd.in/eU4FExpg
