Gina Hope reacted on thisGina Hope reacted on thisI'm excited to share that I've joined NBCUniversal as SVP of North America Consumer Products & Global Partnerships. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with incredible franchises across entertainment, gaming, and the creator economy, creating products and experiences that deepen fans' connection to the stories they love. I've always believed that the best businesses are built by great teams. From every conversation, it was clear that NBCUniversal is home to exceptional people who are passionate about creativity, collaboration, and building for the future. I'm excited to be part of that team and help shape the next chapter for this incredible portfolio of brands. A heartfelt thank you to Vince Klaseus, Rafael Macias, Eve Waldman, Wanda Wongsatittham, Brent Sudduth, and everyone who welcomed me throughout this journey. I'm grateful for your confidence and look forward to what we'll build together. Gina Hope liked thisGina Hope liked this5 weeks of development with 4 devs and 4k+ tests. And it means absolutely nothing. People are so excited by AI that they think they can do everything. No thought for whether they should. Test count is the same vanity metric as lines of code and PR count. Easy to track. Doesn't tell you if your project actually works. At this point, I see claims like this and know it's slop. By all means, accelerate away with AI. Just don't let the AI psychosis lead you to productivity delusion. If this resonates, DM me to chat. We work with engineering leaders at Notion, Entrata, Bilt, Webflow, Xero and more.

Gina Hope liked thisGina Hope liked thisTo anybody in games recently laid off or worried about pending major layoffs This is the rawest, most honest advice I have for you based on the experiences of tens of thousands that has come across my desk. This is written with nothing other than total love, care and honesty and it is meant only to help and not to scare you or to make you upset or defensive. Here are the 4 major challenges I see repeatedly within ASGC: (1) The 4-8 month lag in truly accepting how shitty the situation is (2) A sense of exceptionalism that "I won't have those problems" (3) The 4-8 month lag in expanding one's search to where it should start (4) A lack of perpetual and advance preparation for when the cut hits Let me also be clear: I am not candidate blaming anybody for anything. This is happening to people in ways that are god awful. The way people are responding in 1-4 is how a normal person in a non-god awful situation would respond. I am just trying to get everybody in sync with the right prep for now. I can talk about 1-3 above together. I share data about how bad the games job market is all the time. 15% odds for games over 12 months. 3-4% for early career. 30% for non-early career, Back down to 3-4% for people age 50+. Many people have told me, verbatim, they don't believe me that it could be that bad. And then they start looking. I don't share this to scare people. It is to calibrate them to the right search expectations from day 1. This means being geographically flexible, looking outside games, not looking at just top 100 names, expectations of pay or title reductions, looking 1, 2, 3 circles outside what one was doing. From month 1. Not when month 6 hits. This is not me telling you this. This is what candidates tell me repeatedly. That they wish they had known how bad it was, and had calibrated appropriately, from day 1. And it happens again and again. And this is where Item 4 above comes in. I have said many times, and it still bears repeating: the world of 2026 is one of perpetual career preparedness. Networking constantly because it takes relationships on the back of years of effort to truly break through noise with solid advocacy. Having your application materials and LinkedIn and portfolio perfectly set so you could send them out tomorrow if you had to, even if you are employed now. Think like a BD so you always have a plan on relationship development with others. Having some sort of angle, blog, videos, posting, anything, so you are not anonymous the day you lose your job outside that company. Because when the layoff comes, too often, the castle of the organization and people you had around you disappears. And then so much of it is a recognition game. Whom do you know? How hard will they advocate for you? Will randoms who have never met you recognize you? I got my first job, in 2004, with a paper application I handed to someone. I miss those days. But in 2026, this is what I am seeing repeatedly and how to prepare for it.

Gina Hope liked thisGina Hope liked thisAfter eight incredible years at Activision, it’s time for a new chapter. Serving as VP of Global Analytics has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented, passionate, and generous people in the industry. Together, we built games I’m deeply proud of—and I learned more than I ever expected. What I’ll miss most are The People. The colleagues who became friends, the teams who inspired me daily, and the Lean‑In circle I started which grew into a community of support, candor, and empowerment. Leaving all that behind is not easy. But I’m excited to share that I’ll be joining the LA Clippers as Chief Data & AI Officer. It’s an extraordinary opportunity to help shape the future of a world‑class organization at a moment when data, technology, and fan experience are evolving faster than ever. I’m energized by the challenge and grateful for the trust placed in me. To everyone at Activision: thank you for the partnership, the laughter, the debates, and the chance to grow and lead. I’m carrying all of it with me. Here’s to new beginnings—and to staying connected.

Gina Hope reacted on thisGina Hope reacted on thisI’ve been laying low on LinkedIn for a while but a few months ago I joined Electronic Arts (EA) to lead data and analytics for the Battlefield franchise. We’ve got an incredible team spread all over the globe but, like the Ocean’s 11 meme, I think we need one more. The Battlefield Studios team did an incredible job breathing new life into this IP, delivering one of the top critical and commercial launches of 2025. As the franchise heads into a new era, we need gameplay experts eager to use their analytics chops to ensure we are building fun, meaningful experiences for our players. The role is meant to sit at Ripple Effect in Los Angeles, side by side with the franchise leadership team. But if you think you’re the perfect fit for this role and live elsewhere, don’t be shy.

Gina Hope reacted on thisGina Hope reacted on thisWe're heartbroken by the passing of our founder and dear friend Vince Zampella. Vince was a titan and legend of this industry, a visionary leader and a force who shaped teams and games like Call of Duty, Titanfall, Apex Legends, the Star Wars Jedi series and Battlefield for our community in ways that will be felt for generations. His impact reached far beyond any one game or studio. We will remember Vince for how he showed up every day, trusting his teams, encouraging bold ideas, and believing in Respawn & Battlefield. Most importantly, he championed what he believed was right for the people behind those studios and our players because it mattered. We will miss him greatly. Our hearts are with his family, friends, and all who love him.

🧠⚙️ My Top AI & Tech Picks of the Week (Oct 26–Nov 1) It’s been a wild week in AI. From humanoid helpers to thermodynamic chips that sound straight out of sci-fi, here are 5 standout stories I think are worth your time: 1. NEO the $20K Housebot Humanoid robots just hit the preorder page. 1X unveiled NEO, a 5’6 household assistant that can water plants, fold laundry, and get a little too real — if it gets stuck, a remote human pilot can take over via your Wi-Fi. Sci-fi meets real life. 🔗 More on Forbes https://lnkd.in/eMejNyqM 2. A 10,000x Leap in AI Efficiency? Extropic, a startup led by ex-Googlers, claims its new chips use thermodynamics and randomness to do AI with far less power. Their “XTR-0” chip could reshape AI hardware. Bold claims, but if they hold, this is GPU-disruption territory. 🔗 Full breakdown on Wired https://lnkd.in/e8PwpTJw 3. OpenAI’s Billion-Dollar Shakeup OpenAI restructured its nonprofit roots and revised its Microsoft deal. Highlights: $130B in equity to its foundation, more independence from Azure, and new guardrails around future AGI claims. 🔗 More from Reuters https://lnkd.in/emCD8YPG 4. Claude Moves Into Excel Anthropic’s Claude AI is now helping analysts inside Excel. With real-time market data, cash flow tools, and built-in AI agents, this is a real shot at Copilot’s crown — especially in finance. 🔗 Details via Anthropic https://lnkd.in/es8tjCK6 5. ChatGPT Gets a Mental Health Upgrade OpenAI updated ChatGPT to better handle crisis conversations with an empathy-tuned version of GPT-5. It’s a solid step forward — but early tests show the system still has blind spots. 🔗 The Guardian’s take https://lnkd.in/eA-pSeK8 That’s the short list — there’s a lot happening at the edge of AI and emerging tech, and I’ll keep surfacing the most meaningful stuff I find. Follow for weekly updates or send over any gems I might’ve missed. #AI #TechNews #Robotics #OpenAI #Anthropic #FutureOfWork #Hardware #Innovation #WeeklyUpdate
