We’re hearing this directly from our customers every day—trust and transparency in visual content isn’t optional anymore. As new regulations take shape, organizations need partners who can deliver both innovation and certainty. That’s exactly where Getty Images continues to lead.

The Getty Images libraries are AI-free. Apparently only 13% of people know that. 🤔 So I'm helping spread the word. And to be clear, we're not against AI. In fact, Getty Images offers a commercially safe Generative AI tool designed for business use. What we do believe in is protecting copyright, compensating creators, and maintaining trust in the content our customers rely on. That's why our Creative and Editorial libraries remain human-created, giving customers confidence in the provenance and authenticity of the imagery they use. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/givyVSVe

Getty Images is pursuing a financial restructuring after its proposed $3.7 billion merger with Shutterstock collapsed. The company faces approximately $2.1 billion in debt, declining subscriber numbers and growing competition from AI image-generation tools. Its restructuring plan includes up to $533 million in equity commitments backed by Koch Equity Development and the Getty family. Getty aims to reorganize its finances while continuing operations, serving customers and supporting contributors. The challenge ahead is to protect its valuable photography archive while adapting to a rapidly changing visual-content market increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence. #GettyImages #ArtificialIntelligence #BusinessNews #CEOsOfBharat

Getty Images Goes Private Getty Images Chapter 11 restructuring will take them private by year-end. The Chapter 11 filing follows the failed merger with Shutterstock, which was announced in January of 2025 and valued at $3.7 billion. The goal of the merger was to “combine in a merger of equals transaction, creating a premier visual content company.” The deal fell apart recently because of a regulatory issue in the UK, which would require Getty Images to sell the editorial side of Shutterstock, viewed as a nonstarter by the board of Getty Images. Ultimately, Getty Images spent $100 million on the failed merger. Moreover, the company has struggled with declining demand as customers utilize AI-generated images over Getty Images stock photos. Now, the company is moving from being publicly traded to private with the aid of $433 million from Koch Equity Development (KED). The prepackaged bankruptcy restructuring will include a $143 million dollar DIP financing and converting $100 million of existing debt held by KED into equity. In addition, $270 million of unsecured senior notes will be retired. Allegedly, the bankruptcy process would not involve layoffs, changes to the company’s operations, content partners, or vendors. Check out our full restructuring research, we will soon cover Getty as well: https://lnkd.in/eTpr5JCc
