Here are 10 funny facts about cybersecurity we don’t really talk about… 1️⃣ If everybody were good and honest, cybersecurity wouldn’t be necessary and would not exist. 2️⃣ Cybersecurity is one of the few professions where success means nothing happens. 3️⃣ Cybersecurity exists because trust is expensive—and mistrust is cheaper. 4️⃣ Perfect security is impossible, yet the Board of Directors still expects it. 5️⃣ The weakest link in any secure system is still a human with a password. 6️⃣ Hackers don’t always “hack” systems—sometimes they just politely ask for access and get it. 7️⃣ Cybersecurity professionals spend more time explaining risk than actually reducing it. 8️⃣ The industry thrives on uncertainty; certainty would put many tools out of business. 9️⃣ True cybersecurity maturity is not in a mass of tools, but in calmness during the chaos of a cyber-attack. 🔟 Cybersecurity is often blamed for slowing the business—until it’s the only thing saving it. Bonus: Cybersecurity awareness training is often taken seriously after a breach, not before. Please feel free to add yours 😆. At the end of the day, cybersecurity isn’t just about systems, tools, or threats. It’s about people, choices, and accountability. And real change in this field won’t come from more tools or more noise, but from better decisions — one person at a time. Repost ♻️ and follow Tobi Ademiju

Bumble is killing the swipe and replacing it with an AI that interviews you and builds a full profile on your values, relationship goals, and dating intentions. 🚨 Here is why that is a privacy red flag: 1️⃣ One company now holds your most sensitive psychological data, sexual orientation, location, private preferences, and more. 2️⃣ Dating apps get hacked. If hackers get your AI profile, they get a blueprint of who you are. HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF RIGHT NOW: Although you can’t stop the AI and the the AI dating hasn’t officially launched yet, you can still protect yourself from other privacy angles Bumble may be using your profile data for targeted ads and marketing unless you manually opt out. Here is how to stop it: 👉 Open Bumble > Profile > Gear Icon (Settings) 👉 Scroll to Security and Privacy > Privacy settings 👉 US Users: Enable “Do not use my profile information to show me relevant ads.” 👉 EU Users: Click “Reject all.” 👉 Pro tip: Go to your phone settings and turn off “Precise Location” for Bumble so they only get your general area, not your exact address. Don’t let the hype of a new AI feature compromise your digital privacy. Send this to a friend on a dating app so they know what they’re signing up for. 👇 Follow @cybersecuritygirl for the best cybersecurity and privacy tips! 🔐 #cybersecurity #privacy #bumble #datingapps #technews

One of the biggest myths in cybersecurity is that confidence comes before opportunity. That’s not true. Most people I know in cyber took opportunities while feeling completely unprepared. They applied for jobs they weren't sure they could do. They volunteered for projects they had never done before. They spoke at events before they felt "ready." And somehow, they grew into those opportunities. The women I interviewed for Cyber Like a Girl shared this lesson over and over again: Confidence is usually the result of action, not the prerequisite. If you're waiting until you feel ready to make your next move in cybersecurity, you might be waiting forever. Apply. Raise your hand. Submit the proposal. Take the certification. Start the project. Your future self will thank you. What's one opportunity you took before you felt ready?

🔍 Let's break down an AI headline that is certainly getting people's attention! During an internal cybersecurity evaluation designed to measure the offensive cyber capabilities of advanced ChatGPT/AI models, Open AI disclosed that researchers intentionally reduced certain safety restrictions as part of the testing. In pursuing a solution to its assigned objective, the AI agent identified a path out of its intended sandbox, gained internet access, and ultimately gained access to Hugging Face infrastructure. Rather than following a predefined attack path, the AI agent chained together multiple opportunities, including available credentials and exploitable vulnerabilities, to achieve it’s goal. The incident has prompted a joint investigation and expanded collaboration between OpenAI and Hugging Face on future model evaluations. It's tempting to jump straight to the headlines, but the bigger story isn't "AI went rogue". The bigger story is that AI systems are becoming capable enough that governance, containment, monitoring and human oversight must evolve just as quicky as the technology itself. For cybersecurity professionals, this feels like another pivotal moment where we need to determine how we securely develop, evaluate, monitor and govern increasingly autonomous AI systems.   What's your biggest takeaway from this incident? Has it changed how you think about AI safety, cybersecurity or the future of AI Governance? how should cybersecurity professionals prepare for this next chapter of AI? We'd love to hear your perspectives. #wicys #wicysai #ai #aiheadlines #aigovernance #cybersecurity

⚖️ Every security decision make you pick a spot on a slider, and you don't get to skip it. On one end you've got usability, on the other you've got security. Slide it all the way toward secure and your data is locked in a safe, wrapped in chains, and thrown in the ocean 🌊 where nobody is getting to it..... ❌ and nobody can use it either. Slide it the other way and you've got a kiosk sitting in a public space with no authentication, where everything can do everything. Incredibly usable 🤷.... ❌ and not secure in the slightest. 🎯 The ACTUAL JOB is finding the spot in the middle that matches the risk you're actually carrying. We got into a real example on the show. A breach reporting portal sat way over on the usable end, where anyone could submit, and that openness turned out to be exactly the problem. So they slid it toward secure, and now instead of typing into a portal you have to call somebody 🤬📞 😡 More friction 😡 more burden 😡 Less usable and that was a deliberate trade. That's the lesson worth carrying into any security conversation. Every time you slide toward secure 🔒 you pay for it somewhere in usability, and pretending the tradeoff doesn't exist is how you end up with controls nobody actually follows. AI is changing how work gets done, but it’s also changing what needs access to systems. Human, non-human, and now agentic identities all need permissions to perform tasks. The problem is, when any one of those identities has more access than it actually needs, one compromised account can turn into a much bigger incident. That’s why identity security is becoming such a core part of AI security. Security teams not only have to investigate alerts after something happens, but also understand the full risk around an identity and use that context to make smarter access decisions in real time. Microsoft Security's Unified Identity Risk Score brings identity, access, and threat signals into one view, helping teams spot risk across related accounts and take action through Conditional Access. #MicrosoftSecurityPartner #IdentitySecurity #AISecurity #Cybersecurity #intheloop
