Christopher Steed reposted thisChristopher Steed reposted thisWith BAE Systems, we have pushed forward the frontier of mass drone swarm behaviour. Stanhope AI’s recent trial success was featured in the latest ‘Innovators Report’ from the UK defence company. *Mastering mass: bio-inspired drone swarms* ➡️ BAE Systems combined algorithms inspired by the natural world with Stanhope’s physical AI capabilities to enable reasoning within an autonomous, intelligent swarm. ➡️ Based on the neuroscientific principles of ‘Active Inference’, drones equipped with our software predict what they expect to sense, then act to minimise the difference from what they observe in the real world. BAE Systems' report explains that its uncrewed aircraft became “naturally curious” - learning from their surroundings and exploring ways to reach a shared goal. ➡️ The collaboration also helped to further inform the safe and controlled operation of uncrewed air systems and drone technologies. Christopher Steed liked thisChristopher Steed liked thisThe physical world has zero margin for error. When a patient is rolled into the ER with chest pain, a surgeon needs diagnostic certainty within minutes. When an energy company spends $1 billion deploying battery storage, that chemistry must be flawless. For an AI output to be useful in the real world, it must be driven by reality. Large Language Models (LLMs) are incredible conversational interfaces, but the physical world requires Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) running the physics behind the scenes. LQMs run high-scale simulations constrained by real-world variables such as shelf stability, and manufacturability. Without those physical constraints, we risk sending engineers down a year-long R&D path that works in theory but fails in a factory. This is why we partnered with Anthropic to bring Claude together with SandboxAQ's LQMs: Combining intuitive conversational AI with science-grounded physics.

Christopher Steed liked thisChristopher Steed liked thisI cant remember the last time I heard a CEO talk about his employees "and their families" like Tim Day did at last week's Quantum World Congress. It stuck with me. Connected DMV organized QWC at the University of Maryland in College Park. I moderated a 5-hour track focused on Industry & Impact that pulled together an extremely diverse set of participants in quantum. We dug into a fundamentally new way of computing that has been under development for decades. Lots of learning, for me, on technical aspects of quantum, which I’m not going to try to distill here! But there are massive implications on national security, encryption, drug discovery and material science, to name only a few. Long timelines, all-or-nothing results, supply chains still being built. Celia Merzbacher recently published a solid report on the current state of the industry. I heard similar challenges being faced by Commonwealth Fusion Systems and The Footwear Collective the week before. Amidst lots of technology, policy, business and regulatory concerns, some leaders recognized the importance of the humans involved in this work. The folks leading military innovation efforts centered their mission on supporting their personnel in the field, as well as providing opportunities for students and incoming professionals in the field. Craig Martell - on stage to speak about Lockheed Martin’s new Quantum Innovation Lab - spent most of his allotted time talking about the people on his teams … there’s a lesson about innovation embedded in this emphasis. Charles Tahan from Microsoft pointed to an increasing localization of activity in this space, with discrete hubs emerging across the US and globally. This creates densities of talent, innovation and opportunities. But Sara O'Rourke pointed out this also creates challenges for expanding efforts - whether commercial, scientific, etc - beyond these localities. John Licata asked what would be different if we interpreted ROI as Return on Intelligence. This line keeps coming back to me, providing additional ways to consider the results of the time and resources we drive into new things. Finally, Zapata Quantum's Sumit Kapur shared that his company seeks to be both “dynamic and rigorous.” I loved this combination, and continue to find that the most successful organizations apply these characteristics on top of a clear and measurable ethos. Thanks again to John Yesawich, George D. Thomas and the Connected DMV team for pulling this together, and to everyone who participated in this conference. Patrick G. Christopher Steed liked thisWhat happens when quantum computing meets drug discovery? ⚛️🧠 I just completed Quantinuum InQuanto Summer School at University of Cambridge, lectures, hands-on workshops, and project work at the intersection of quantum computing and quantum chemistry. Working directly with the InQuanto platform showed me how chemical problems can be reframed for quantum computers, and how quantum algorithms could complement classical computational methods. For those of us in neuroscience and biotech, this matters. The molecules behind brain disorders are among the hardest to model, and quantum computing could one day help us design better medicines faster. Huge thanks to Simon McAdams , Duncan Gowland, Ludmila Szulakowska , Jefferson Florez, PhD , Abbey Pint , the Quantinuum team and National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) and my fellow students for an outstanding week- pictured are Andrea Alberdi Hidalgo and Natasha S.

The CFTC has issued a new no-action letter providing interim relief that allows many SEC-registered private fund managers to forgo CFTC registration as commodity pool operators and commodity trading advisors, or to withdraw existing registrations, subject to specified conditions. The relief applies to managers of private funds offered exclusively to qualified eligible persons and is intended to address concerns regarding duplicative regulation while the CFTC considers formal rulemaking. Managing Complexity: The Strategic Role of Custody In its latest industry update, the Investment Adviser Association reported that SEC-registered investment advisers now oversee more than $128 trillion in assets, with continued growth in alternative investments and retirement account structures increasing operational oversight demands across the sector. As asset strategies diversify and regulatory expectations remain elevated, custody is increasingly viewed through a governance lens. Advisors managing private credit, real estate, structured products, and alternative holdings within qualified accounts face heightened requirements around valuation accuracy, income tracking, corporate action processing, and transparent reporting. In this environment, custody is not simply about holding assets — it is about maintaining disciplined oversight across complex asset classes. RIAs require servicing models that support accurate valuations, structured reconciliation, income collection, and clear reporting, particularly when assets sit within retirement accounts or benefit plan structures that demand additional scrutiny. Austin Capital Trust provides custody services built to support these realities. With comprehensive asset servicing, corporate action processing, valuation support, reporting and reconciliation capabilities — including custody solutions for employee benefit accounts — ACTC enables advisory firms to manage complexity while maintaining operational clarity and fiduciary confidence. As advisory firms continue to expand into sophisticated asset strategies, custody will increasingly define how effectively they manage risk, uphold transparency, and reinforce client trust in a more complex investment landscape. #Custody #RIA #RegisteredInvestmentAdvisors #AssetServicing #WealthManagement #FinancialServices #OperationalExcellence #TrustServices

CFTC Chair Mike Selig is warning that piling on excessive regulations could push blockchain and crypto developers straight out of the US. He cautions that forcing builders into deregulated jurisdictions overseas would reduce American oversight and increase the risk of market manipulation, while weakening consumer protections. Selig is pushing for clear and practical rules instead. He also believes constant dialogue with innovators will keep talent and projects thriving right here at home. At the same time, he is calling out how blockchain is exposing the outdated infrastructure of traditional finance. Decentralized systems, he argues, are the key to restoring America’s edge in creativity and possibility. Selig sees crypto, prediction markets, and artificial intelligence as three critical verticals where the United States must lead. He stresses that blockchains align deeply with American values of freedom and liberty, making it a huge risk to lose that advantage. With strong support from President Trump, he says the days of regulation by enforcement are over. Check out the full discussion on Blockzeit⏬ https://lnkd.in/gG65Pjqv

White House adviser on AI and digital assets David Sacks said the U.S. may be nearing a key moment for digital asset regulation following the confirmation of Michael Selig to lead the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. His comments followed remarks from Selig that Congress is working to complete a digital asset market structure bill. The Senate legislation has not yet been finalized for a floor vote. Drafts to date suggest it would expand the CFTC’s authority over digital assets, an area traditionally overseen by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Senators are continuing discussions on how decentralized finance would be addressed in the framework, and those talks are ongoing as lawmakers work through remaining issues. https://lnkd.in/g3SA92gG
