Chloe West posted thisDo I know anyone who works with paid Google or Meta ads, either in-house for a brand you work for or for clients via an agency? Let me know! I'd love to ask some questions for an article.

Chloe West posted thisJust because something is an "AI tell" doesn't necessarily mean that humans can't use it anymore. But there are some "AI tells" (like "gap", "quietly", "not X, not Y, Z," and so on) that are so incredibly overused by AI that it's becoming infuriating to read content written that way.

Chloe West posted thisI'm working on a new project for a client, a type of writing I've never done before. I just sent in my first draft yesterday and was instantly filled with anxiety because what if it was terrible and absolutely not what they were looking for and I'm horrible at my job and I should never work again?? But actually, I got a, "This is great, really strong start," in response. So it turns out my brain really just needs to shut up because actually I CAN do my job, thank you very much!!!

Chloe West posted thisCan we all, collectively, on this professional network, come together and agree that having your health insurance tied to your employer, and therefore being able to instantaneously lose your entire family's health coverage through no fault of your own, is just a little bit baloney

Chloe West shared thisMeet Jasper, my sweet, snuggly 13-year-old cat that I got for my birthday when pregnant with my oldest son. He was just diagnosed with cancer last week. Has hardly eaten in days. Slow, sluggish. His once-powerful purring motor is much softer these days. We had his oncology consultation and first round of chemo yesterday. Waiting to get the cytology results to confirm which type of cancer he has so we know what our course of action will be. We’re hopeful it’s a type of cancer that’s more treatable. He’s no spring chicken, but just a couple of months ago, we kept commenting on how young he still seemed. It’s hard to believe how quickly things all went downhill. But he’s keeping me company while I get some client work done. So thankful for the work I have right now, as a cancer treatment is obviously not cheap. Just wanted to share my sweet, sweet boy. Fingers crossed we get many more years with him ❤️

“Having had the opportunity to work with Chloe as a fellow writer, editor and then content manager was an enriching experience. I had the privilege of seeing her grow as a digital marketer. Her passion for writing is evident in her work. As a fellow writer, she is supportive and engaging. As an editor, she was always positive and encouraging with edits, even big ones! As a content manager, she was one of my favorite bosses. She created optimized schedules that we could all follow easily, and the content briefs were always easy to follow and understand. All in all Chloe is a well rounded digital marketer that will bring joy to any team she joins.”

Please stop providing a warm welcome on your homepage. Out of 5 audits I did last month, 2 of them had ‘Welcome’ on their H1 heading. While it’s a nice sentiment, adding “Welcome to [Insert Company Name Here]” is doing your website a disservice. Your H1 is the first thing both visitors and Google see. So, it needs to tell them what your page is about. So, instead of a greeting, make it about what you offer or who you help. Here are a few examples: 🔹 Plumbing Services for Homes and Businesses in [City] 🔹 [City] Personal Brand and Product Photography 🔹 Women’s Psychotherapy and Counselling in [City] See the difference? People will instantly understand what you offer, and Google can actually rank your page for the right searches (the ones your ideal clients are already making). Plus, it’s an easy update to implement right away. Want to learn more? Then, you’ll like my 7-Day Free Website Jumpstart. It shows you how to go from “invisible” on search to “found and booked”...and how to position your website so the right clients choose you. Link in the comments.

Every dollar we spent on ads? Gone the moment we stopped paying. Every hour we spent on organic? Still paying dividends 2 years later. This is the curve nobody shows you: Not just SEO. Every. Single. Organic. Channel. LinkedIn. YouTube. Podcasts. Communities. Content. All of them. Here's what actually happens: Phase 1: The Doubt (Months 0-3) Your team thinks you're crazy. "We can't measure this." Leadership wants proof. You have none. Phase 2: The Resistance (Months 3-6) Everyone's saying "told you so." Budget meetings are painful. You're questioning everything. Phase 3: The Breakout (Months 6-9) Suddenly, everything shifts. Inbound explodes. "We've been following you" becomes your favourite phrase. The math starts working. Phase 4: The Regret (Month 12+) Organic is now 60% of pipeline. Everyone asks "why didn't we do this sooner?" The hard truth I learned: Paid ads are renting attention. Organic is buying real estate. One stops the moment you stop paying. The other compounds forever. The mistake I see everywhere: Companies optimise what's measurable (paid ads) instead of what's valuable (organic authority). They want the dopamine hit of instant conversions. They miss the exponential curve of compounding. What I'd tell my past self: "Start organic on Day 1. Even if it's just 2 posts per week. Even if nobody's watching. Because in 12 months, you'll either have an asset or another invoice." The question isn't IF you should build organic. It's whether you'll start today or regret it in 12 months. Your move.
