Andy Bird shared thisInsightful read on the SDLCAndy Bird shared thisEarlier this month, CMU's Software Engineering Institute and Accenture released the AI Adoption Maturity Model. It’s an excellent framework for how adoption evolves from disciplined experimentation to enterprise scale. If your work touches enterprise architecture, read it. But here is what it isn't: A granular, AI-native SDLC maturity model. One that assumes you are already building from scratch and maps out exactly what that looks like across 13 distinct dimensions of the delivery lifecycle—from market discovery to release velocity. That is what I’ve spent the last few months building. I keep running into a massive operational contradiction. Most AI-coding content quietly turns into a pitch for a frictionless panacea. Meanwhile, the macro data tells a much less comfortable story: -- Incidents per Pull Request: Up ~23% -- Change-Failure Rates: Up ~30% -- Monthly Incidents: Up nearly 60% year-over-year -- AI Code Acceptance: Climbed from 20% to 60% The mechanical load went down, but the cognitive load skyrocketed. Speed went up. Trust didn't follow. You didn't automate your operations; you became a full-time babysitter for a very confident, frequently wrong intern. I’m not selling anything. I want brutal feedback from enterprise architects and methodology purists who are actually living this—not just reading about it. You are responsible for delivering functionality that works and doesn’t break. I’m looking for practitioners to help validate the framework and pressure-test a massive missing piece: estimating the actual level-of-effort and cost to transition between these maturity levels. If you want to tear v1 apart: Drop a comment below with your focus area and DM me your GitHub/Email. You’ll have complete access to the repo. Fair warning: It’s a serious architectural document -- think CMMI structure -- not a 2-minute read. One final tactical tip if you do dig in: Have your favorite LLM evaluate the framework. Then have it re-read the README. You’ll be stunned at the 2nd take. Sources: Cortex, Engineering in the Age of AI: 2026 Benchmark Report (incidents per PR +23.5%, change-failure rate +~30%); Faros AI, The AI Engineering Report 2026 (monthly incidents +57.9%, AI code acceptance rate 20%→60%).

One incredible evening with the Idaho Technology Council. Our Syringa Networks CEO, Chip Hull, honored 100-year-old inventor, WWII veteran, and innovator Charley French with his Hall of Fame induction. What an extraordinary life and legacy—and proof that innovation has no age limit! Charley completed his first Ironman at 60 years old, Chip Hull commented that he better get his running shoes out and start training. 🏃♂️ As the vice-chair of ITC public policy committee, I had the honor of presenting the Public Policy Champion Award to Senator Kevin Cook, recognizing his dedication to public service, innovation and technology policy, and for advancing responsible AI use in education and protecting our future leaders. I was humbled to do so on behalf of my dear friend and our chair Rachel Burkett of Micron Technology, who had the best reason to miss the celebration—she just welcomed her first little one! ❤️ Congratulations, Rachel and family! And the icing on the cake? Sharing the evening with our fabulous Syringa Networks team and innovators in Idaho’s who are building what’s next! Great conversations, plenty of laughs, and even better company. Proud to be part of Idaho’s incredible technology community and a big thank you, Idaho Technology Council team and it’s fearless leader Diane Temple, for a memorable night! Many in our industry think they know eGain, but the company has done a dramatic transformation in the past few years to a leader in AI focused Knowledge. Clean and accurate knowledge is the fuel for all AI applications and there were many very large enterprises on stage passionately talking about the statistics of their success with eGain in the knowledge management area and their plans to expand their use of eGain in all of their AI initiatives. Egain can be a full stack solution or run headless into industry leading AI harnesses. Ashu Roy Al Basseri Evan Siegel Stephen Pappas

Andy Bird liked thisAndy Bird liked thisHaving more options only helps when you know how to compare them. The enterprise technology market is enormous. Most executives do not have the time to continuously compare providers, pricing, capabilities, contract structures, and new entrants. So businesses tend to do something very human. They stay with what they know. There is nothing inherently wrong with that. The risk comes when familiarity stops us from checking the alternatives. Good sourcing requires enough visibility into the market to know whether staying put still makes sense. Sometimes it will. Sometimes a better price is available. Sometimes a better solution is available. Sometimes the real opportunity is changing how the service is structured. You cannot evaluate those possibilities if you never look outside the building.
