Pleased to announce the signing of an MoU between the The Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) and Koita Foundation on May 24, 2025, coinciding with the International Nurses Day celebrations. TNAI is India’s largest nursing association. As part of the MOU, TNAI will launch the Digital Health Foundation Course for Nurses (DHFC-N) - a first-of-its-kind, modular, open-source program developed in collaboration with Koita Foundation and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS). DHFC-N is designed to equip India’s 3.0 million nurses with core digital skills across use of digital tools (EMR/HIS), clinical documentation, clinical decision support, digital privacy, data analytics and interoperability (incl. ABDM). The self-paced course has been designed and developed by leading nursing professionals across India and will be offered free. Participants will also earn Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) credits upon completion. The launch of DHFC-N builds on the success of the Digital Health Foundation Course (DHFC) for doctors developed and rolled out last year. DHFC is being actively used by our partners and has already benefited over 200,000 professionals across India - Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Capacity Building Commission (IGOT), National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare (NABH), National Cancer Grid India and RSSDI - Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India. A Hero in White Coat: Dr. Surekha's Unwavering Determination Saves a Precious Life In a remarkable display of medical expertise and dedication, Dr. Surekha Suruse Chowdhury, a paediatrician at CHC Elmadpur Hospital, Agra, demonstrated extraordinary commitment when faced with a critical situation. At her hospital, a patient named Khushboo had just given birth to a baby girl. However, the joy of childbirth was quickly overshadowed by concern when the newborn showed breathing difficulties due to prolonged labour. What followed was a testament to Dr. Surekha's professional excellence. After initial attempts at revival through back and foot massage proved unsuccessful, she moved to mechanical ventilation using an Ambu bag and oxygen support. When these standard procedures failed to yield results, Dr. Surekha took the crucial decision to perform mouth-to-mouth CPR. Her persistence paid off after 7 intense minutes, as the newborn finally responded to the resuscitation efforts. This incident stands as a powerful reminder of the dedication our healthcare professionals bring to their work. Dr. Surekha's quick thinking and unwavering determination helped preserve a precious life, embodying the true spirit of medical service.
