Randstad CEO Reveals the New Rules of Workplace Leverage The era of universal remote work has ended, according to Randstad CEO Sander van ’t Noordende. As companies aggressively roll back pandemic-era policies, fully remote roles have transitioned from a standard employee right to an exclusive perk reserved solely for "star performers." These are individuals with highly specialized, niche skills who possess the market leverage to dictate their own terms. For the broader workforce, a "hybrid hierarchy" has emerged as the new equilibrium. Most employees are now expected to be in the office three to four days a week, with full in-office mandates returning to sectors like high finance. Visibility is once again a requirement for career progression for the average professional. Ultimately, flexibility in 2025 is governed by scarcity. While workers increasingly prioritize "employability" and skill development over location, those forced back to the office are demanding higher pay to offset the loss of autonomy. The message is clear: unless you are deemed "irreplaceable," the home office is no longer your primary workplace.
