After hearing from creators and users who rely on screen readers and captions, the team improved features like automatic captions and screen-reader navigation, making it easier for people to follow videos and participate in conversations, whether they're watching without sound or using assistive technologies. The experience pushed Sagar to think beyond product features and reimagine how people with different needs experience technology every day. At TikTok, we believe stronger privacy systems are built through continuous testing, collaboration, and shared exploration. That’s how PET Arena came to life, a global Capture the Flag challenge designed to help researchers stress-test privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) in simulated environments. Led by Oblivious in collaboration with TikTok and Prof. Florian Tramèr, the challenge brought together nearly 100 researchers, who submitted over 5,900 attempts to explore edge cases, challenge assumptions, and uncover valuable patterns and insights. These insights help strengthen how privacy systems are designed, tested, and improved over time.
