Most of us already know what supports better health, but the challenge is making those behaviors part of daily life. And today Thrive Global and Deloitte are launching a strategic relationship that makes it easier for people to move from awareness to action so they can build healthier habits and improve their health — one Microstep at a time. Currently, most U.S. healthcare spending is reactive, focused on treating illnesses and conditions after they occur. But Deloitte estimates that proactive “well-care” could save the country up to $2.2 trillion a year in medical and pharmacy costs. This number captures the enormous opportunity we have to move the needle. By bringing together Thrive’s AI-powered behavior change platform and Deloitte’s experience in health care transformation, data and analytics, digital innovation and large-scale implementation, we’ll help organizations harness the science-backed power of our daily behaviors — food, movement, sleep, stress management and connection — and scale behavior change to help people build healthier habits and routines. And starting in October, Deloitte will incorporate Thrive content across key areas of health into the wellbeing resources available to its U.S. workforce. As we mark World Alzheimer’s Day, more than 7 million people over age 65 in the US are living with Alzheimer's disease — a figure that is projected to almost double in the next few decades. And more than 12 million people are caregivers to loved ones with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. There’s no sugarcoating a disease that results in the widespread loss of brain function, and no number that captures the heartbreak of seeing a loved one decline. And yet, there is reason for hope. That’s because research shows that Alzheimer’s-related brain changes can begin up to 20 years before symptoms set in, highlighting the importance of investing in our brain health and addressing modifiable risk factors throughout adulthood. This is a 20-year window of opportunity. As with so many chronic conditions, research is showing that with brain health, our DNA is not necessarily our destiny. We have more power than we previously thought to shape our brain health, both day-to-day and in the long run.  Read more in Inc. Magazine: https://lnkd.in/dsNuAU33

  • The science is clear: caring for our brains should happen at every stage of life, but many of us don’t know where to start. From everyday focus and mental clarity to long-term protection against neurodegenerative disease, our daily habits are one of the most powerful tools we have for supporting our brains, no matter our age. This World Alzheimer’s Day, join Arianna Huffington, Dr. Vin Gupta, and Dr. Brandy Matthews for a Reddit AMA. They’ll be covering brain health and Alzheimer’s disease, and why it’s never too early and never too late to take care of your brain. Submit your questions on Reddit now, and tune into the conversation on September 21st at 12pm PT/3pm ET on r/science: https://lnkd.in/gtZ_RwYx

  • When you're caring for a child with cancer, it's easy to put your own needs last. But tending to your own wellbeing — even in small ways — isn't selfish, it's essential. This Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and beyond, remember to pour back into your own cup. For additional tips on supporting your mental health while caring for someone with cancer, read more on Pfizer's This Is Living With Cancer: https://lnkd.in/g_Hy2X35

  • This Blood Cancer Awareness Month, we’re reminded that life with cancer happens between doctor’s visits. That’s why Thrive Global has partnered with Bristol Myers Squibb to launch a free wellbeing resource library for people living with multiple myeloma and the caregivers that support them. The library offers science-backed support across five key daily behaviors: food, movement, sleep, stress management, and connection. Whether you’re living with cancer or caring for someone who is, prioritizing your wellbeing can begin with one small step. Get started today: https://lnkd.in/g7CzswFG
