  • Nine years in, and Bruce Case is still finding new ways to get more out of the platform, from sprint tracking to Admin Center security to a two-year seat on the IT Product Advisory Council. Nominated by his peers, Bruce is our July Member Spotlight, and anyone who spends time in the Community knows exactly why: he shows up, shares what he knows, and lends a hand. • There's still time to catch us at Ai4 - Artificial Intelligence Conferences 2026? Don't miss Markus McKay-Fleisch, SHRM-SCP, AI Adoption & Enablement Director at Smartsheet, for his talk "The Training Fallacy: How To Sessions Won't Solve Your AI Adoption Problem," where he'll unpack why real AI enablement is about rethinking the work, not adding more training. • Your history with a platform should compound into better outcomes for your organization, not just a stronger pitch to the next customer. Rajeev Singh, CEO of Smartsheet, breaks down why real work intelligence comes from context depth, proximity to intent, and workflow patterns earned over years inside an enterprise.

Every enterprise software company is talking about their data moat right now. I think almost all of them are describing the wrong one. Every company has a slide about how many petabytes of data they have collected over however many years. The chatter is all about volume — who has the most data, whose models it makes smarter. But in the age of AI, your company’s moat and your customer’s moat are the same conversation. And it was never about how much data you have. It’s about the context that data unlocks. When we tell a customer we’ll apply AI to how work actually gets done — cross-functionally, in the gaps between their systems of record — we’re not selling a feature. We’re helping them build a capability that didn’t exist before. Outcomes that were structurally impossible a year ago are now the expectation. Most vendors treat your accumulated work data as their asset — the thing that makes their platform stickier, their pitch to the next customer stronger. We’re building the opposite. Your history with us should compound into better outcomes for your organization. The advantage flows back to you. Because volume alone doesn’t make AI smarter. Real work intelligence comes from three things: Context depth. The ongoing record of how plans change — every revision, every missed deadline, every conversation anchored to a decision. That isn’t metadata. That’s organizational memory. Proximity to intent. How close you sit to where a problem first gets named — by the people who set the priorities. That proximity only exists if those people already know you’re there, and already trust you can solve it. That standing isn’t earned in a demo. It’s earned over years inside the enterprise. Workflow intelligence. The behavioral patterns in how approvals move, where bottlenecks form, what triggers escalation. You don’t get that from reading a process document. You learn it by being the system where the process runs. Here’s the part that’s easy to miss. None of these ship in a release. They compound — one workflow, one exception, one resolved bottleneck, one planning cycle you were already in the room for. A newer platform with a beautiful interface can match the ambition. It can’t manufacture the years. The moat was never the volume of data. It’s whether your platform knows what that data means — because it’s been running the work for years — and hands the intelligence back to you the moment the decision gets made. Not the model. Not the interface. Not who has the most storage. The moat is the work itself — and everything a platform learns from running it. Most companies are still measuring the wrong thing.

  • CEO Rajeev Singh joined the DeepTech Insights podcast for a conversation on how AI is reshaping enterprise software. His big idea: AI is becoming the new UI, with the full functionality of Smartsheet available entirely through conversation, delivered today via Claude, Copilot, Gemini, and ChatGPT, so you can pull data from your other systems through MCP and tell Smartsheet to run the whole project without ever opening the software. • California State University, the largest four-year public system in the country, consolidated project management for its 22 campuses onto Smartsheet and turned scattered email threads and shared files into one source of truth. 🎓 Operations analyst Karen Malone shares how embedded AI now lets non-technical staff ask plain-language questions about their data and get answers in seconds, freeing teams from what she calls "answer bottlenecks" and freeing people up for higher-value work.
