New Feature Highlight at the SeniorScapes Park! Our newly installed log bridge is more than just a beautiful addition to the park. It’s a purposeful tool for healthy aging and brain health. Crossing the log bridge isn’t just walking from one side to the other. It’s an invitation to: ⚖️ Challenge balance in a safe, supportive way. 🚶➡️ Practice tandem walking (heel-to-toe), sidestepping, and straddling for strength and mobility. 🧠 Engage in dual-tasking (moving while thinking and problem-solving). 🤔 Spark curiosity by trying something new. 😀 And perhaps most importantly… have fun! Features like this are designed to help older adults stay active, resilient, and confident in their movement while also enjoying the playful side of exercise. #HealthbyDesign #Healthyaging #balance #mobility #strength #brainhealth #socialization #chronicdiseasemanagement #emotionalmentalwellbeing #AsburySeniorScapes The City of Frederick Asbury Communities, Inc.

Fun Fact: Strength training in the park isn’t just scenic- it's scientifically powerful! According to the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s 2019 Position Statement, resistance training is one of the most effective ways for older adults to fight muscle loss, improve functional ability, and boost independence... helping them stay mobile, confident, and ready for anything. #HealthAgingbyDesign #AsburySeniorScapes

Fun Fact: Older adults are 60% more likely to visit a park when there’s ample, well-placed seating. (Loukaitou-Sideris et al., 2016). Note the armrests on individual seats and a space between the chairs where a person in a wheelchair can sit between friends... rather than always on the end! There is a chair or bench at least every 50 feet, which is about the average length of a grocery store aisle. #asburyseniorscapes Health by design 😀
