Would you face Joey Chestnut in a corn-on-the-cob eating contest? Sebastian Barranco from our team did. One day he's booking meetings. The next, he's standing across the table from Joey Chestnut, trying to eat as much corn as humanly possible in 60 seconds. You never know who you're going to meet or what unexpected opportunities are around the corner here at Rilla. rilla.com/careers

Hire ex-college baseball players. Owen Webb is one of the best engineers I've ever worked with. In the last 2 years, he has been a part of every team in this company. Marketing. Sales. Customer Success. Events. Design. The best example: The Rilla Ridealong Royale. The biggest tech demo we've ever done in front of 1000s of people. Rilla coaches facing against their own AI clones , on stage, hosted by Bruce Buffer. The product had to be flawless under pressure. The only way to pull that off was to make Rilla genuinely faster. Owen built improvements for one 25-minute moment that ended up making the real product better for every single customer. Months of work. One shot. And it went perfectly. What drives him to build experiences like this isn't just shipping. It's what happens on the other end. Managers who fall back in love with coaching. He's now leading a team of engineers at Rilla. The thing he pushes them on the most? Expand into areas that aren't your core strengths. It pushes you to iterate fast. Fail. Make the changes you need to. And keep moving up. Keep doing that, and you'll grow faster than you ever thought possible.

I spent 4 years bombing jokes at comedy bars on the LES. Best business school I ever attended. Skipped my 8ams. Stayed out til 4am doing comedy sets. Nothing teaches you to fail and learn fast like a room full of people not laughing. Junior year, a Forbes author hired me to make his tech founder interviews funny. That's when I realized building products and doing comedy are basically the same thing. Keep iterating until something lands. Last night, Rilla co-hosted a Tech comedy show with Avoca. Fellow comedians like Varun Rana, Neal Patel, and 2 of Rilla’s own took the stage. Bobby Verhey and Patrick J. Johnson turned years of standup comedy into a pretty useful career skill. Both are unbelievably good at what they do, and I think the stage had something to do with it. There's something about bombing in front of a crowd that rewires you. You stop fearing failure. You start moving faster. Turns out the best salespeople and engineers in tech are just comedians who pivoted. P.S We're hiring. Standup experience not required. But it helps. 😉
