We’re introducing GeneBench-Pro, a research-level benchmark for a harder kind of AI progress: how well agents can navigate messy biological data, choose the right analysis path, and make judgment calls that real computational research depends on. GeneBench-Pro represents an initial effort to evaluate the more abstract skills involved in good scientific judgment possessed by experienced. We anticipate that as model capabilities advance, benchmarks that probe model abilities at these higher levels of abstraction will become increasingly useful, beyond those that simply test book knowledge or the ability to execute routine analyses. https://lnkd.in/eeZaipbH
About us
OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. AI is an extremely powerful tool that must be created with safety and human needs at its core. OpenAI is dedicated to putting that alignment of interests first — ahead of profit. To achieve our mission, we must encompass and value the many different perspectives, voices, and experiences that form the full spectrum of humanity. Our investment in diversity, equity, and inclusion is ongoing, executed through a wide range of initiatives, and championed and supported by leadership. At OpenAI, we believe artificial intelligence has the potential to help people solve immense global challenges, and we want the upside of AI to be widely shared. Introducing a limited preview of GPT-5.6 Sol, our next generation frontier model, as well as GPT-5.6 Terra, a balanced model for efficient, everyday work, and GPT-5.6 Luna, a fast and affordable model for high-volume work. We believe in broad access and plan to make GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna generally available in the coming weeks. For now, at the request of the U.S. government, we’re starting with a limited preview among a small group of trusted partners in Codex and the API. We’re excited to continue learning from this preview period, and to bring GPT‑5.6 Sol, Terra and Luna to more people soon. https://lnkd.in/eYiKri9U

Codex usage at OpenAI gives us a preview of what agentic work may look like in the future. A new OpenAI Economic Research paper finds that agentic AI is expanding the frontier of productive work: - Users increasingly ask Codex to take on work estimated to require 30 minutes, one hour, or even eight hours of human effort. - At OpenAI, Codex became the main interface for work-related AI use across the company, including non-technical functions. - Workers use Codex for a broader mix of tasks, including debugging, validation, automation, tooling, documentation, data transformation, and structured analysis. The findings are early, but they point to a broader shift: as agents improve, people use them for more complex, longer-running, and more cross-functional work. https://lnkd.in/e_-X3NhX

We’ve designed and built our first AI chip: Jalapeño. Designed from the ground up by OpenAI and brought to production with Broadcom, Jalapeño is purpose-built for the LLM workloads powering ChatGPT, Codex, the API, and future agentic products. Chips are foundational to the AI economy. Building our own expands our full-stack platform from products to models to infrastructure, and will help us scale intelligence, serve more people, and expand access to AI. https://lnkd.in/gg8UvTwE

The next generation is already building the future with AI. The ChatGPT Futures Class of 2026 came together in San Francisco to share the ideas they're pursuing, the projects they're building, and the experiences that inspired them to start. As the first graduating class to have ChatGPT throughout college, they offer a glimpse of how young builders, researchers, creators, and advocates are turning new tools into real-world progress.

We’re expanding OpenAI Daybreak to help democratize patching vulnerable software at machine speed: - Codex Security plugin: find, validate, and fix vulnerabilities right inside Codex - The full version of GPT-5.5-Cyber model: a strong model for trusted defenders - Cyber Partner Program: powering products built on top of our best cyber capabilities for 20+ leading security companies to secure the world's software - Patch the Planet: working with maintainers to secure critical open source projects With an update to GPT‑5.5‑Cyber, it’s now more permissive and more capable for advanced, authorized cybersecurity work. It is our most capable cyber model yet, with stronger performance on defensive workflows like tracing vulnerable code, validating issues, developing patches, and preparing evidence for human review. Codex Security brings these capabilities into real security workflows. Teams can run deep scans, validate findings, trace attack paths, build threat models, generate codebase-specific patches for review, and export into the tools they already use. We’re also launching the OpenAI Daybreak Cyber Partner Program with leading security software and services providers. Participating partners can use GPT‑5.5 with Trusted Access for Cyber in the security products and services they provide to customers. This helps their customers benefit from advanced defensive AI, while keeping direct model access with trusted partners. Our goal is to move beyond using models to find more vulnerabilities, towards a world of safer software and cyber resilience. https://lnkd.in/eTjgMDUw

More than 230 million people ask ChatGPT health and wellness questions every week. GPT-5.5 Instant is now on par with our frontier Thinking models for health-related questions, with major improvements in recognizing when urgent care may be needed, asking for relevant context, explaining uncertainty, and making complex information easier to understand. These gains were shaped by physician-led evaluations and feedback from a global network of hundreds of physicians across 60 countries, 49 languages, and 26 specialties. Their input helps us identify where responses miss important context, sound overly confident, need clearer next steps, or should more strongly encourage someone to seek medical care. Because GPT-5.5 Instant is available to all free users in ChatGPT, these improvements can help more people in some of the most personal moments they bring to AI. https://lnkd.in/e-cDvJbt

Together with researchers at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard University, we published a study in NEJM AI showing how o3 Deep Research helped clinicians revisit previously unsolved rare pediatric disease cases, helping identify 18 new diagnoses across cases that had evaded years of expert analysis. This study suggests AI could make expert-led periodic reanalysis more scalable, helping clinicians revisit old cases as medical knowledge advances, identify leads worth investigating, and potentially bring answers to more families. https://lnkd.in/e63RDcDs
