  • ⚠ 70+ Fake Windows App Websites Are Waiting for One Click Searching “Windows utility download” on Google and clicking the first result may not always lead you to the real software. A recent security report on Reddit (https://lnkd.in/ggKEDQB9) revealed that attackers have created 70+ fake websites pretending to be popular Windows applications. These sites imitate legitimate apps and try to trick users into downloading unsafe files. The dangerous part? 1. The website can look professional. 2. The app name can look familiar. 3. The Download button can look legitimate. But one wrong click may put your system and data at risk. Before installing any software: ✅ Download from the official developer website ✅ Verify the domain name carefully ✅ Prefer Microsoft Store or official GitHub repositories when available ✅ Avoid “cracked”, “free premium”, or unknown mirror downloads A few seconds of verification can prevent hours of recovery work. Cybersecurity is not only about advanced tools — it starts with basic habits. #CyberSecurity #Windows #Malware #DataProtection #ITSecurity

  • 🔔 A Windows Identifier That Helped Track a Hacker: What Is GDID? A recently unsealed federal complaint brought attention to a lesser-known Windows identifier called GDID (Global Device Identifier). According to the investigation, Microsoft provided GDID-related data that helped authorities connect activity from the same Windows installation across different VPNs, IP addresses, and countries. Unlike an IP address that can change, GDID is a persistent identifier associated with a Windows device environment. Investigators used it as one of the links to connect online activity back to the same device. GDID is not a new technology. Device identifiers are commonly used by modern operating systems for purposes such as licensing, device management, security, and service-related functions. However, this case highlights an important question for IT professionals: ❓ How much do we know about the identifiers generated by the systems we use every day?
