Still basking in the joy of last week at Engage for Good! Flamingo and Girl Scouts were honored with a Gold Halo Award for the Best Physical or Mental Health Initiative for our brand-new Body Appreciation Badge Program 💚 And we had the special opportunity to share the *magic* behind our ways of working in underfunded issue areas at a workshop alongside Lauren Carson and Jenn Angelo. A true dream week! This work started with a simple but urgent insight: girls are growing up surrounded by messages about how their bodies look—and not nearly enough about what their bodies can do. Together, we set out to change that. Over the past two years, we partnered with Girl Scouts of the USA and an incredible group of advisory partners including Black Girls Smile Inc. and National Alliance for Eating Disorders to build the first-ever Body Appreciation badge line—programming designed to help girls build confidence, practice self-care, and develop a better relationship with their bodies from a young age. Today, more than 50,000 girls have already completed the program, with over 1 million to come in the years ahead. What’s most meaningful is seeing this work become part of everyday girlhood: troop meetings, conversations, and moments that shape how girls see themselves for the long term. Grateful to have worked alongside a dream team of collaborators including Jenn Angelo, Alexandra Behette, Jenna Amyot, Mary Elizabeth Jagroo on Girl Scouts and Maggie Hureau, Anna Wesche, Paige Willingham, Isha Kapadia, Macy McDonald, Becky Waddell, and the entire Flamingo team. This is what it looks like when we move from awareness to action together, building a movement from just the spark of an idea.
