We were grateful and honored to host Brigadier General Roger Giraud, Chief of the Medical Service Corps and proud Army-Baylor alumnus, for a visit with the Army-Baylor MHA/MBA Program. Our faculty had the opportunity to share how we continue to create value for military medicine through what we teach, the projects we lead, and the professional roles we serve across the federal health space. We discussed how we prepare our students to think critically, lead confidently, and drive meaningful change in complex healthcare environments. After meeting with faculty, BG Giraud spent time with our students, sharing wisdom and guidance drawn from his own leadership journey and experiences across military medicine. His perspective reinforced the connection between what students are learning today and the realities they will lead in tomorrow. Army-Baylor graduates are integral to the effectiveness and efficiency of military medicine. We work to conserve the fighting strength and our students and residents will lead us into the future fight. So that others may live. Thank you for your time and support, sir. Sic ’em, Bears! It only takes an invisible layer of frozen precipitation to turn your driveway, sidewalk or steps into a hockey rink! Make sure you salt your walkways, wear proper footwear and take short steps if you have to go outside! Stay safe out there! #WinterReady U.S. Army Combined Arms Center | Joint Base San Antonio

Just because they have a fur coat, doesn't mean they can stay outside! Keep you pets safe during extreme cold or wintery weather. Keep them warm and dry, give them plenty of food and water, and if they have to go outside, bundle them up! #WinterReady #PetSafety

Winter is officially here! Cold temperatures are in the forecast from 23-26 January 2026. A few preventative measures can go a long way to safeguard yourself and family. Ensure that you check your local weather conditions as temperatures and precipitation can vary greatly. https://lnkd.in/eFQtJyB For updates about JBSA medical services, check the Brooke Army Medical Center and 59th Medical Wing social media pages For updates about possible school closures, follow your local ISD. BEFORE THE STORM: 1. The Department of Homeland Security at Ready.gov recommends keeping supplies on hand. Basic supplies such as a de-icer (salt) for sidewalks, a heating source, plenty of blankets/warm clothing, food, water, and medications. https://www.ready.gov/kit 2. Test your smoke alarms to ensure they are functioning 3. Cover your outside water spigots, keep closets and doors under sinks open to allow for warmer air to circulate and allow your faucets to drip so that they don’t freeze up. Be Ready - San Antonio Water System https://lnkd.in/gK3Q75vH 4. Let's Prepare! https://lnkd.in/g5qyEUPd 5. Copy this link to your cell phone: https://lnkd.in/g-dRw25N It’s a one stop shop for the San Antonio office of Emergency Management link for information on road closures, CPS Energy outage map, local warming centers, etc. This site also provides recommendations for before, during and after winter storms and extreme cold DURING: • Minimize unnecessary travel. If you need to travel, ensure that you have a winter car kit on hand. Basic supplies include jumper cables, ice scraper, flares or reflective triangle, car cell phone charger, map and cat litter or sand for better traction. Warm blankets, food and water will also be essential should you become stranded • Stay indoors if possible. Walkways can become slippery with minimal precipitation and a hard freeze • Bring your pets and plants indoors • If you use an electric space heater, ensure that it is at least three feet from any flammable materials and has an automatic shut off should it topple over • Never use a generator, camp stove, charcoal grill, gasoline heater, or propane heater indoors. These items can start accidental fires, cause electric shock, and cause deadly carbon monoxide poisoning. https://lnkd.in/gqp5xkzD • San Antonio Outage Maps. CPS Energy Outage Map, Outage Map (saws.org) After: If you lose power and need a place to warm up Text SHELTER + your ZIP code to 43362 (4FEMA) to find the nearest shelter in your area (example: shelter 12345)
