We’re hearing it more often: colon cancer diagnoses, sometimes in people far younger than expected. Tragically, actor James Van Der Beek passed away at age 48 after a battle with colorectal cancer, and many remember Chadwick Boseman, who died at 43 from the same disease. Both are reminders that this illness can affect people well before later adulthood. The American Cancer Society reports that colorectal cancer rates in adults under age 50 have been increasing for years, with younger adults now making up a growing share of new cases. That’s why understanding your personal risk, knowing when and how to get screened, and learning about today’s treatment options truly matters. On the south side of our campus stands a coastal live oak tree, recently planted by Huntington team members during a ceremony marking the anniversary of the Eaton Canyon Fire. The fire forever changed our community and beloved landscape. Gathering to plant this tree gave us space to remember what was lost, and to honor what endures: “This tree we plant today stands in remembrance of what we lost.
