Today is National Postal Worker Day! Our mailing services department works hard to ensure our employees and customers receive their mail, such as electric bills and scheduled utility work notices. Steve Ishimoto, a senior mail clerk on Oahu, has worked with us for about 18 years! He sorts and logs incoming mail from many different locations, such as our Maui County and Hawaii Island offices, the Post Office, UPS, and FedEx! Once he sorts the mail, Steve leads the mail runs between our offices in Ward and downtown Honolulu, ensuring all our employees receive the documents, letters, and packages necessary for their work. On average, our mailing services department processes over 25,000 pieces of mail a week! Steve said, “It’s a challenge every day here at the mail room to make sure everybody gets their mail. I’m happy we have such a great team to make this happen. My favorite part of being a Senior Mail Clerk is assuring that everybody receives their mail daily at the correct mail stops.” Steve shared that one of his most memorable mail runs was back in 2006, when it rained continuously for 40 days and 40 nights. At that time, our mail team had to deliver mail from our King Street mail room to our downtown Honolulu offices in the CPB Tower and ASB Tower. The streets were like rushing rivers, and our mail team got totally drenched every time they delivered mail – they even had to keep all the mail dry by using garbage bags! Mahalo to Steve and our entire mailing services department for consistently working to deliver mail to our employees and customers, rain or shine!

Happy Social Media Day! Over the past decade, social media has transformed the way we communicate and receive information. What started as a fun way to stay connected with family and friends has become one of the fastest ways to get news and information. That’s why social media plays an essential role in how we communicate with our customers. In our latest blog, Emily Miyashiro, one of our digital communications and social media specialists, shares the importance of social media and how it is a valuable tool for spreading awareness. “Social media is also a valuable tool for education and awareness. In recent years, Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization (HWMO) has organized the “Wildfire LOOKOUT!” campaign, bringing together more than 50 organizations, including Hawaiian Electric, to share information about current fire and drought conditions and promote wildfire preparedness,” writes Emily. This year’s #WildfireLookout campaign officially starts today and will continue through September. Today’s wildfire safety tip is to park cars on areas that are paved or gravel, not on dry grass! Heat from vehicle exhaust systems can ignite dry grass. For more wildfire safety tips and information, visit hwmo.org/lookout. Also, if you haven’t already done so, be sure to follow us on our other social media accounts to receive the latest updates: - Instagram: @HawaiianElectric - Facebook: https://lnkd.in/gbV6dUY - Twitter/X: @HwnElectric; @mauielectric; @hielectriclight - NextDoor: https://lnkd.in/gnB3EdtF To read the full blog post, visit: https://lnkd.in/gahyBqtF

Earlier this month on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, our employees volunteered to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for A Cup of Cold Water (ACCW)! Our employees donated supplies and assembled 200 sandwiches. A couple of their keiki even came to help since they’re on summer break! This is our employees’ second round of supporting ACCW! ACCW is a nonprofit that delivers food and essential items to communities in need throughout Maui. Mahalo to our employees and their keiki for generously donating supplies and volunteering!

Happy Father’s Day! We have so many great fathers and father figures at our company who work hard to serve our communities every day. Kenneth Chan, one of our visual communications specialists, is usually out in the field filming our amazing employees and their work. But today, his daughter Maddie is sharing a behind-the-scenes look at everything Ken does to share important company information, restoration updates, employee highlights and more. We appreciate Ken for venturing the frontlines to capture updates during both blue skies and storms! Mahalo to Ken, as well as all the fathers and father figures at Hawaiian Electric who make sacrifices every day to take care of the community!

Palani Kealoha, one of our linemen on Hawaii Island, knew his daughter, Maia, wanted to be a star. He just didn’t expect it to happen at age 5, when she landed the lead role in Disney’s live action “Lilo and Stitch.” With Father’s Day coming up tomorrow, see how this dad and his ohana juggle Maia’s increasingly busy acting career with emergency work shifts and life in Kona, because as Lilo says, “Ohana means family – family means nobody gets left behind.”

Education and connectivity are crucial for keeping communities informed. In a new blog post, Alyssa Okamura, one of our digital communications and social media specialists, reflects on visiting Molokai to attend the Molokai Keiki Earth Day event with Rhonette Poepoe and Kuhea Asiu, public affairs specialists for Maui County. At the event, Rhonette and Kuhea shared electrical safety and energy savings tips, as well as career opportunities, with the fourth graders who attended. "Educating our youth is important because they soak up this information and carry it home to their family and friends." said Kuhea. Summer isn't just about extended vacations. It is an opportunity for the younger generation to explore their interests, try out summer internships, and find new hobbies. Our summer interns are currently starting their roles, and Alyssa also writes that she met some of the power plant workers on Molokai, including our newest intern through our Maui Power Pathways program, in collaboration with University of Hawaii, Maui College. "The next generation is who we want to focus on if we want to continue the legacy of Hawaiian Electric being a Hawaii based company, made of people from the community," explained Rhonette. "It is important to get them educated and inspired now." Read the full blog at https://lnkd.in/gPfv__Zp
