Our engineers are so “cool” they can do stack design and ski… without dropping a bipolar plate. ❄️⛷️ 🤩
At Fourier, we designed and validated a PEM water electrolyzer stack from scratch, in-house, in 3 months. I coauthored a case study with SimScale on how we did it. I'm going to be honest; designing a robust stack with a small team and a tight timeline is difficult. Seal design alone can eat weeks if you're waiting on simulations to run sequentially. The newly available MARC solver on SimScale made it possible to iterate on multiple seal designs in parallel on their cloud infrastructure, which completely changed our pace. The other thing that surprised me was being able to check simulation progress and tweak model parameters from my phone while sitting on a chairlift in Tahoe on a Saturday afternoon. That sounds like a small thing, but it kept the project moving on days it otherwise wouldn't have. Check out the case study here: https://lnkd.in/g5HbmaZh Has anyone else been running cloud FEA for hardware dev? Curious if it's been practical for others or if the learning curve killed the time savings.
