The Foothill Catalog was formed in response to the devastation of the 2025 Los Angeles Wildfires in our local community. Our goal is to produce a collection of pre-approved home designs representative of the local architectural character that has been destroyed. The Catalog will empower displaced residents to affordably and expeditiously rebuild their home while collectively retaining and restoring their community identity.

Proud to share the launch of an incredible philanthropic partnership for The Foothill Catalog Foundation and San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity with Architectural Digest. Humbling to see Cynthia Sigler, AIA and I featured on behalf of the Foothill Catalog in AD's March 2026 magazine, "The L.A. Issue", to highlight the work we are doing, but more importantly to increase the awareness and support for the incredible needs of our communities that are still very much real 13 months after the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. Volunteering this week at a San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity build site has been an incredible reminder of why we do this work. We spent the day helping construct “The Lewis”, a home design developed by The Foothill Catalog Foundation. Seeing the drawings translate into framing on site, details coming together, and teams collaborating in real time was both grounding and inspiring. Working alongside Habitat for Humanity and dedicated volunteers from across the San Gabriel Valley reinforced how powerful design can be when paired with community action. Excellent article on the Eaton and Palisades Fires one year post-disaster. Very comprehensive and extremely accurate on the issues facing many communities in this Era of Megafires. We are not hopeless or helpless, but we must address the issues from all sectors and standpoints, including how we build. The Los Angeles wildfires were ‘the perfect storm’. Last week we had the incredible privilege of hosting Governor Gavin Newsom into our office! The visit was another meaningful milestone for The Foothill Catalog Foundation and an opportunity to share our work supporting communities rebuilding in the aftermath of the LA wildfires. We continue to be deeply grateful for the momentum and support behind this vision we set in motion just 11 months ago. The recognition and engagement from the Governor and his team has been incredibly affirming, for Cynthia Sigler, AIA, myself, and everyone who has poured so much heart into building this initiative. We are also deeply thankful to be a recipient of a LA Rises Grant, which strengthens our team and programs, enables us to continue expanding the Catalog of pre-approved plans, supports homeowners through the rebuild process, and allows us to begin mobilizing our work in the Pacific Palisades community.

Last week I had the pleasure of speaking about the innovative work The Foothill Catalog Foundation is doing at the annual "Solutions for Affordable Housing" event by the National Housing Conference at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. It was an incredible opportunity to participate in discussions with experts and leaders from around the country, including members of Congress like Senator Elizabeth Warren, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, and Rep. Mike Flood, working to develop federal policy initiatives to benefit affordable housing in this country. Many thanks to David Dworkin and the NHC team for the invitation, and to my fellow panelists for a fantastic discussion.

The CRE® Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to The Foothill Catalog Foundation, a nonprofit organization of building professionals whose mission is to create a more streamlined path for Los Angeles, California, residents to rebuild following the 2025 wildfires.
