Our very own Farzona Pulatova, VP of Engineering at Earnest, took the stage at CTO Craft Con: Toronto, and she absolutely crushed it. Farzona shared her perspective on something we deeply feel at Earnest: culture isn't a nice-to-have; it's the foundation for everything else. How you build your team, how you lead through challenges, how you retain great people... it all comes back to culture. We're so proud of Farzona for contributing to such an incredible gathering of engineering and technology leaders. 👏
Farzona Pulatova, VP Engineering at Earnest, joined moderator Tashuka Shah here at #CTOCraftCon Toronto for a fireside chat on scaling culture and accountability across distributed teams. As teams grow and spread across locations, culture becomes fragile. They explored just how leaders reinforce standards and expectations without defaulting to process or bureaucracy, the role managers play in translating values into everyday decisions, and how to design incentive systems that strengthen ownership and uphold high performance. 🔍 Insights from the room: • Leaders reinforce standards without letting process get in the way • The role managers play in translating values into everyday decisions • Using measurement to reinforce accountability rather than just track it #CTOCraft #EngineeringLeadership #TechLeadership #Toronto #DistributedTeams #EngineeringCulture

Why should graduate students have to wait until graduation to start saving on their student loans? 🎓👇 Historically, the refinancing market hasn't aligned with a grad student's timeline. Many secure job offers months before finishing their programs. Yet, they’ve been forced to watch interest accrue on high-rate loans simply because lenders wouldn't consider future income or match existing grace periods. Earnest is changing that. We are thrilled to announce Earnest Job Offer Refinancing + Grace Period Match. Eligible graduate students can now refinance up to six months before graduation using their signed job offer letter—all while keeping their existing grace period for up to nine months. Helping borrowers move from debt to wealth—at the right moment, on their terms—is exactly what we're here for. You can check out the full press release here: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gRyzrbt7

Stop carrying a credit card balance to solely build credit. You’re just paying interest for a myth. Gen Z currently holds the lowest average credit score of any generation. Between lower limits and the return of student loan reporting, the margin for error has gotten smaller. It’s time to move past the "financial advice" that may not work and look at the data. Here is the truth about what’s driving the decline, and how to build back up https://lnkd.in/g8FBZfHx

The most common advice about refinancing is often wrong: “You’ll lose all protections if you refinance your student loans.” That’s not true. Refinancing is a trade-off. But you don’t lose all your protections—and you’re not on your own. Research shows that 9 out of 10 borrowers who could save money don’t refinance. Not because of math, but because of fear. And that hesitation could cost thousands. 👉 Read the full breakdown: https://lnkd.in/g4XK7MUQ

I had to double check this… Earnest is giving away $10,000 to 3 people who apply to refinance by 3/27 and sign an agreement by 3/31 And rates are some of the lowest in years right now. If this was already on your list, I’d probably move on it. #StudentLoans #Refinance #MoneyMoves #FinancialGoals

The SAVE plan is officially ending. After months of limbo, the March 9 appeals court order makes it final. Millions of borrowers will need to transition to a new repayment plan. For now, borrowers remain in forbearance, but interest is still accruing. What’s unclear: - How quickly the transition happens. - How backed-up servicers may be. Federal policy may shift. But borrowers who understand their interest, their timeline, and their options are far better positioned than those reacting to headlines. “The key is to actively evaluate your options now rather than waiting to see what happens,” says Kaydee Ambas, CFEI® and Consumer Finance Professional at Earnest. “Get a plan in place now.” Especially for borrowers pursuing PSLF, time spent in SAVE forbearance typically does not count toward forgiveness. Bottom line: don’t wait for the dust to settle. Here’s what happens next — and how to prepare: https://lnkd.in/dmpEyxyh
