In East Boston, trees are more than green space—they are essential infrastructure. This week, DraftKings employees completed day 2 of our Boston tree planting project with the team at Tree Eastie. 40 employee volunteers showed up at Memorial Park to plant 16 trees in one of Boston’s highest-priority neighborhoods for expanding tree canopy. The planting will help improve air quality and contribute to a healthier, more resilient community for years to come. A special thank you to our volunteers, the Tree Eastie Team, and the Arbor Day Foundation for helping to bring this project to life. Sometimes the best way to recharge is to step away from your desk and do something good for the community. I recently joined colleagues for a tree planting event through DK SERVES, DraftKings Inc.'s corporate social responsibility initiative that brings employees together to give back to the communities where we live and work. It was a great opportunity to spend time outdoors, connect with colleagues, and help create a greener space for the Boston community to enjoy. When you’re evaluating a new opportunity, think beyond the outcome you expect. The question isn’t just, “What do I think will happen?” It’s, “How am I positioned for the different ways this could play out?” It’s tempting to spend all your time trying to predict the future and build a strategy around that answer. I think the more useful work is preparing to respond as things unfold. Have conviction in what you’re pursuing. Just don’t make your entire strategy depend on a single outcome.
