Today, we shared our Q3 2026 financial results and highlights from our work to bring more ways to shop, grow, and earn locally. From the weekly grocery run to a last-minute purchase, we want to help people tackle more of their everyday errands. This quarter, we expanded our grocery and retail selection through new partnerships with Costco Wholesale, Macy's, Gap Inc., and more, connecting consumers to more of the stores they love. We also invested in helping restaurants grow, whether their customers dine in or order at home. DoorDash Reservations grew 340% quarter-over-quarter in its existing U.S. geographies, helping people discover more local restaurants. For operators, that means more opportunities to welcome guests through their doors and turn a first visit into a lasting customer relationship. And ICYMI, we announced our intent to acquire Instacart to help stores of every size reach more customers with the kind of tools the biggest retailers build for themselves. We’re proud of our progress, and are heads down to continue building for the consumers, merchants, and Dashers who rely on us! About us
At DoorDash, our mission to empower local economies shapes how our team members move quickly and always learn and reiterate to support merchants, Dashers and the communities we serve. We are a technology and logistics company that started with door-to-door delivery, and we are looking for team members who can help us go from a company that is known for delivering food to a company that people turn to for any and all goods. DoorDash is growing rapidly and changing constantly, which gives our team members the opportunity to share their unique perspectives, solve new challenges, and own their careers. Our leaders seek the truth and welcome big, hairy, audacious questions. We are grounded in our company values, and we make intentional decisions that are both logical and display empathy for our range of users—from Dashers to Merchants to Customers.

Today we’re announcing DoorDash’s intent to acquire Instacart. Both DoorDash and Instacart share a mission to help local businesses succeed. Together, the combined company would offer grocers and retailers of every size DoorDash's delivery network and Instacart’s grocery and fulfillment technology, in both apps and on stores' own websites, along with the advertising and AI tools each company has built. Consumers could have more stores to choose from and more savings when they choose to shop with a local business, and Dashers and Shoppers would have more ways to earn. Until closing, DoorDash and Instacart will keep operating as separate, independent companies. For important additional information, read more here: https://lnkd.in/eRKAuame

Very proud to share some big news in the fight against hunger: the California Legislature and Governor Gavin Newsom approved $3 million in *new* state funding to power charitable food deliveries to Californians who would otherwise go hungry. This is the culmination of months of work between DoorDash, state lawmakers, and the Project DASH partners who power these deliveries, and it was an honor to celebrate this milestone in food access at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Thank you to Speaker Robert Rivas, Assemblymember Patrick Ahrens, Assemblymember Lisa Calderon, and our Project DASH partners who made this announcement possible!

We’ve brought reinforcement learning into DoorDash’s real-time dispatch system to improve batching efficiency while maintaining delivery quality. Trained offline on delayed marketplace outcomes, our RL policy adjusts dispatch objective weights for each merchant. Our existing optimizer handles feasibility and operational constraints. Authors Haochen W., Yi H., and Ryan Xie share the engineering behind this deployment. The work was also presented at the ICML 2026 RLxF workshop. Read the engineering story: https://lnkd.in/gQ4xPjfi

How do you scale real-time dispatch when demand can exceed processing capacity by nearly 4x? DoorDash engineers rearchitected our dispatch platform from a centralized execution model into a distributed, horizontally scalable system designed for real-time logistics optimization. The new architecture delivers 10x greater throughput, keeps dispatch fast and predictable at peak volume, and creates a foundation for more advanced ML and reinforcement learning in the dispatch loop. In this engineering deep dive, we share how we approached distributed compute, hierarchical decomposition, shadow testing, and production rollout for one of DoorDash’s most latency-sensitive systems. DoorDash 🤝 Dispatch Goods 🤝 The Story of Stuff Project We ran a really special pilot in City of Half Moon Bay this year: a dozen restaurants swapped single-use containers for ones that get washed, sanitized, returned, and reused. Thousands fewer containers ended up in the trash. The program’s still running, and we’re still tuning it. But reusable packaging is new enough that half the work is just explaining what it is! Thanks Story of Stuff for helping with that. I hope it gets other cities and restaurants excited to try it too.

This week at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit, DoorDash Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Elizabeth Jarvis-Shean joined fellow business leaders for a conversation on putting AI into practice while always keeping customers at the center. Alongside Arm's Chief Marketing Officer Ami Badani and Yum! Brands Chief Legal Officer & Corporate Secretary Erika Burkhardt, the group talked openly about how to use AI to improve the experience for your customers and employees, while learning from both successes and setbacks. At DoorDash, that means scaling AI with a relentless focus on making ordering more convenient for consumers, helping merchants grow their businesses, and making it easier for Dashers to earn. Thank you to Fortune and Kristin Stoller for hosting us!
