Normally, I don’t post personal updates on here but I do believe LinkedIn is a great place for inspiration… In September of 2024, I earned my Biggest promotion yet - becoming a mom. I was a month back to work after returning from my maternity leave when we received the life-altering and devastating news that our 7-month-old son was diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive pediatric cancer, Neuroblastoma. There are only around ~600-800 cases of this cancer diagnosed annually in the US. I felt lost, broken, and incapable of understanding or accepting our new normal. Our world stopped but the world around us kept spinning. After 345 days, 8 rounds of chemo, multiple blood draws, medicines, and two major surgeries, He rang the bell a few weeks ago and has been declared in full remission. I can proudly say my son is CANCER FREE. I’ve never been so proud of someone in my life. He fought this battle with nothing but resilience, a smile on his face and love in his heart. I watched my son motivate and captivate those around him. He was constantly being named a "tough cookie" and a "true fighter" by his clinical team. My son is my inspiration. He is a warrior in a child’s body and he endured more than most adults face in their lifetime. He taught me how to dig deep even in the darkest of days. He taught me to be more understanding/empathetic of others, reminding me daily that we’re complex, life is fragile and everyone is fighting their own battles. In return, he made me a better recruiter, mother, friend, colleague and wife. I am extremely grateful and appreciative of my work family here at Crawford Thomas Recruiting. They showed our family so much love and support during this extremely difficult year. They raised me up when I needed it, covered for me when we were in treatment and found nothing but compassion and patience as I navigated our new normal. I write this post because I’m so proud of my son, I’m so proud of myself and my husband Kenneth Gray. I’m so proud of every individual out there working full-time while fighting your own battles. Just know I see you and I feel you. I hope today, my son can inspire you - the way he inspires me daily! He is most certainly my "WHY"🎗️❤️

Father’s Day is a reminder that some of the best career and life lessons don’t come from a classroom, book, or training program—they come from the people who raised us. What’s a piece of professional advice your father gave you that still guides your decisions today? Share your answer in the comments. We’d love to hear the wisdom that has stood the test of time.
