An honor to welcome Dr. Julie FreischlagJulie Freischlag Julie FreischlagJulie Freischlag to Creighton University School of Medicine Creighton University CHI Health CommonSpirit Health for an inspiring Distinguished Lecture Series. Her reflections on vascular surgery, leadership, personal resilience, and mentorship offered invaluable lessons for our faculty and learners. Its a privilege to work at CommonSpirit Health that lives out its faith. In #healthcare there are a lot of organizations that are faith based but in my experience I have seen it lived out in very different ways from it being prominent and palpable to a mere suggestion of past origins. I am honored to see our faith alive and well everyday. Today specifically I came across this prayer request card in our parking lot at CHI Health Mercy in Council Bluffs. I love that we offer this level of support beyond the direct clinical care we provide as the mind, body and spirit are all essential parts of health. I do not know who's prayer this is but I pray it is answered and that we can play whatever part in that answer that we can. "I pray that I go back to my family I pray that I get the help I need I pray that I find a healthy relationship" - Anonymous Hear my prayer, O Lord; Let my cry for help come to you - Psalm 102:1 Amen.

Meet Char Malmgren, Nebraska’s first patient to undergo Cryoablation for breast cancer! 💙 This incredible technology allows our surgeons to target and eliminate breast tumors in just 20 minutes, right in front of your eyes, using only local anesthesia—a revolutionary procedure that is changing breast cancer treatment for patients who meet specific clinical criteria. Dr. Rakhshanda Rahman, MD, FRCS (Edin, Glasg), FACS, Chief of Breast Surgery, explains that thanks to our state-of-the-art Cryoablation device, affectionately nicknamed "Elsa", patients are seeing shorter treatment times and much faster recoveries. ❄️

Our Behavioral Health team hosted our 23rd annual fall event, “Lighting the Way - a Celebration of Dedication and Recovery.” We celebrated the important work and positive impact our staff makes in our patients' lives. As a team, each behavioral health department identified a patient who has had a personal experience with mental health and/or substance use. This year, we were pleased to honor 14 people traveling through their mental health journey with the “Beacon of Light” award. 💙 More than 90 people gathered at the CHI Health Immanuel Holling Center to socialize and celebrate our very deserving recipients. Additionally, our Beacon of Light celebration won the overall compassion category for the CommonSpirit Health Clinical Excellence awards!

If an X-ray is a "photograph" of your body, a Nuclear Medicine scan is a "video" of your body’s chemistry in action! This week, we are celebrating our Nuclear Medicine Technologists (NMTs). The experts who help us see what others can’t. By using safe, "smart" tracers, our NMTs can capture how an organ is processing energy or track the earliest stages of a disease. They are masters of precision and radiation safety, ensuring every scan is as safe as it is informative. Their work supports precision medicine, leading to faster, more accurate diagnoses for our patients. Join us in thanking our NMT team for being the bridge between advanced science and compassionate care! 💙
