Your best people may be quietly struggling. Millions of employees are caring for kids and aging loved ones at the same time, and it’s affecting their well-being, productivity, and retention. On Oct. 29, our own Jill McNamara and Gincy George, MSW, LSW will share what HR leaders can do about it. Save your spot for this live SHRM webinar: https://lnkd.in/g3TZdptE
The conversation around the sandwich generation is gaining momentum, and I’m excited to help move it forward. I recently shared that I spoke at HRMI about the hidden workforce impact of caregiving, and now I’m looking forward to continuing the conversation in an upcoming SHRM webinar with my Care.com colleague, Gincy George, MSW, LSW. Gincy works with families every day, supporting those caring for loved ones and brings a firsthand perspective on the challenges they navigate. Together, we’ll explore how caregiving affects employees and employers, and what meaningful support can look like. After nearly 20 years in senior care and caregiving, I’m encouraged to see this topic gaining momentum. Caregiving isn’t just a personal issue. It’s a workforce issue that affects employee well being, productivity, and retention. The more we recognize what employees are carrying outside of work, the better we can support them both at work and at home.

There's probably a secret population in your workforce: working caregivers. 🤫 Many employees are caring for a child, a parent, or a loved one, but would never call themselves caregivers. That means they’re often invisible to the benefits and policies designed to support them. It's time to recognize them and name their role. Tomorrow, our own Jonathan Simon is joining the Caregiving at Work Forum, hosted by Employee Benefit Research Institute and Greenwald Research, to talk about Inclusive Caregiving: Understanding the Many Faces of Care. 📍 Washington, DC + online (free) 🕤 Jon’s session: 9:50 a.m. ET 📊 EBRI is also unveiling new research on working caregivers Register here: https://lnkd.in/gPS4_zw8 #Caregiving #WorkplaceBenefits #EmployeeWellbeing #HR
I'm excited to be speaking at the Caregiving at Work Forum on October 22, hosted by Employee Benefit Research Institute and Greenwald Research. Caregiving touches almost every workplace, but a lot of employees would never call themselves caregivers. I'll be joining Inclusive Caregiving: Understanding the Many Faces of Care at 9:50 a.m. to talk about what that means for employers and how we can do better. EBRI is also sharing brand new research on working caregivers that you won't find anywhere else. It's free, in person in DC or online. I'd love to see you there. ’Tis the season to think about taxes — and if you think paying a caregiver on the books is too complicated or not worth it, think again. Care.com HomePay handles all of the details, so you don’t have to. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/4k5iNJN

Moral of the story: cash under the table is not the flex you think it is. Paying a nanny off the books can have serious consequences—the good news? The benefits of doing it right are even more serious: 1️⃣ You'll likely qualify for tax breaks that basically pay YOU back 2️⃣ Your nanny gets real benefits — Social Security, credit history, the whole professional package 💼 3️⃣ You dodge the IRS audit / lawsuit / "surprise, you owe thousands" plot twist 😬 "But wait," you're thinking, "how do I even pay someone ON the books?" That's where Care.com HomePay comes in. We handle the household payroll — so you can rest easy knowing it's handled, while you handle, well, everything else. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eeDyUHcp
