ACM Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics
About us
Founded in 1969, ACM SIGGRAPH has grown from a handful of computer graphics enthusiasts to a diverse group of researchers, artists, developers, filmmakers, scientists, and other professionals who share an interest in computer graphics and interactive techniques. Our community values excellence, passion, integrity, volunteerism, and cross-disciplinary interaction. We sponsor not only the annual SIGGRAPH conferences, but also focused symposia, chapters in cities throughout the world, awards, grants, educational resources, online resources, a public policy program, traveling art show, and the SIGGRAPH Video Review. When researchers, artists, and technologists collide, inspiration creates progress. SIGGRAPH conference content – whether invited or submitted – is selected by a jury of experts who find the most transformative advancements across computer graphics and interactive techniques. The result: participants leave with the information and relationships they need to advance themselves and their fields. For more details on membership or to learn about our upcoming conferences, visit SIGGRAPH.org.

As AI advances in generating realistic imagery, abstraction offers new possibilities for human creativity. At the #SIGGRAPH2026 Tech Workshop, 'Lines and Minds: Visual Abstraction in Art, Psychology, and Computer Graphics' brings together researchers, artists, and technologists to examine how abstraction shapes the way we perceive, communicate, and create. From sketches and diagrams to AI-generated imagery, this workshop explores why humans abstract, what makes simplification effective, and how human and machine creativity may evolve together. Join the conversation and reflect on how abstraction continues to influence the future of computer graphics and interactive techniques. Most rendering assumes materials stay the same, but nature is far messier — and far more fascinating. 💡 At #SIGGRAPH2026, "Exploring Quantum Computing for Texture Generation" presents a shading framework that bridges classical ray tracing with quantum-inspired collision models to investigate how coherent light-matter interactions can influence visual appearance. By representing light and material excitations as quantized modes, the work reframes subsurface scattering as a sequence of structured, symmetry-constrained interactions, enabling richer descriptions of optical behavior shaped by interference and multi-layer effects. It further tests how collision operators can be precomputed using near-term quantum computing, pointing toward new approaches for generating BSDFs and physics-inspired material models with distinct visual signatures. Take a closer look at how emerging computational ideas may expand how we model light, materials, and rendering systems. ➜ https://lnkd.in/ewfp8AxZ © 2026 Moth Limited. All rights reserved.
