What is Endpoint Management?
Endpoint Management refers to the set of actions—provisioning, monitoring, securing, remediating, and updating endpoints—to maintain a secure IT environment. IT teams carry out this process to ensure all endpoints remain healthy and protected. It includes the following key activities:
- Device discovery and inventory: Identifying, tracking, and maintaining records of all networked devices.
- Software and OS updates: Ensuring devices run the latest security patches and operating system versions.
- Security policy enforcement: Implementing policies such as password standards, data encryption, and firewall protection.
- Remote control and support: Enabling IT teams to provide remote assistance for troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Mobile device management (MDM): Managing and securing smartphones and tablets used for work.
- Endpoint detection and response (EDR): Detecting and responding to threats like malware, ransomware, and zero-day exploits.
