Instructions for applying

Download a Children at Play Fund Application (PDF). Financial assistance is available to City of Gainesville residents only.

  • Step 1: Applications may also be found at the Gainesville Parks & Recreation registration desk
  • Step 2: Submit your application in one of the following ways:
    • Bring your application and required eligibility documentation to the following address between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding City-observed holidays:

    • Mail your application and a copy of the required documentation to:

  • Step 3: You will be notified within seven business days of whether your application was approved. Please remember to check registration deadlines and allow City staff time to review your application.

Required documentation

Certain documentation must be submitted with your application for consideration. Acceptable documentation that verifies city residency, applicant's income and number of household dependents may be found in section V of the scholarship policy. An applicant is required to submit this documentation only once during the calendar year (January to December). New documentation will be requested each year.

Goals of the Children at Play Fund

  • To enable greater accessibility to recreation activities which build self-esteem, promote good health and offer a safe alternative for latch-key children
  • To encourage children who may be at health or social risk to participate in supervised recreation programs
  • To eliminate participation barriers
  • To inspire community support for the fund and its principles
