2. Mother McAuley 6-0 (2): Youth is being served as UConn commit Keira McQuillan, a junior outside hitter, leads Mighty Macs with 25 kills. Sophomore middle Chyla Jukes follows with 23.
3. Lockport 5-2 (3): Left-handed senior right-side hitter Hutsyn Timosciek is already on a roll. She’s averaging four kills per set for the Porters, who take second place at Crimson Classic.
4. Lincoln-Way East (4): Junior outside hitter Kolby Ross, an Illinois recruit, and senior outside hitter Chloe Prainito help overpower Benet 25-20, 25-15 for third place at Crimson Classic.
5. Providence 5-0 (6): Brenna Garrigan, a 5-foot-5 freshman outside hitter, puts up team-high 38 kills and .441 hitting percentage for the Celtics, who win tournament at Wilmington.
6. St. Laurence 4-3 (5): Ball State commit Aubrey Martinez and Vikings lead 16-12 in second set against Mother McAuley but drop 19-25, 25-19, 25-20 decision at Metea Valley Tournament.
7. Lincoln-Way Central 3-3 (NR): Season-opening wins over both Chicago Christian and DePaul Prep show that Ella Thompson and the Knights mean business.
8. Chicago Christian 6-1 (7): After a 25-19, 15-25, 15-9 semifinal battle with Bishop Noll, Kambry James and the Knights win their own tournament with 25-15, 25-8 victory over Stagg.
9. Sandburg 4-3 (10): The Eagles kick off season with a 25-21, 25-20 win over Downers Grove South. The Mustangs are coached by Sandburg boys volleyball coach Madisen Babich.
10. T.F. South 4-1 (NR): Layla Smith and the Red Wolves are the hottest team in the South Suburban Conference.
Player of the Week
Senior outside hitter Quinn Grevengoed tallies 92 kills and 15 aces in seven matches and then is named MVP for host Chicago Christian as Knights take tournament title for first time since 2014.
