Below is a list of resources to help businesses take action in their commitment to net zero targets.

NEW! Step By Step Guide To Net Zero

An effortlessly simple step-by-step guide on how you can best approach net zero.

Stage 1 – Measure

GHG Protocol calculation tools and methods

The greenhouse gas protocol enables companies to calculate their emissions footprint through recognised methodologies across scope 1, 2 and 3.

Foundations for net-zero target-setting in the corporate sector

Science-based targets initiative (SBTI) offers detailed guidance on setting targets and strategies on net zero emissions for the corporate sector.

The SBTI net-zero corporate manual

This guidance document provides information to companies participating in the Net-Zero Standard road test on how to set emission reduction targets as part of a net-zero commitment aligned with science. It is aimed at companies with 500+ employees.

CDP

The largest database of corporate reporting on environmental indicators.

Stage 2 – Optimise and Strategise

BPF’s Climate Change Agreement (CCA) is one of the biggest climate change agreements with industry and it provides opportunities for companies to reduce energy use in plastics processing.

Stage 3 – Reduce

CBI goal 13 platform

The UK’s biggest industry association, CBI is leading the way to decarbonisation and helping businesses prepare for net zero targets.

Global UN race to zero campaign

The United Nations’ global race to zero campaign focuses on disclosure of net zero targets across all economic and industrial sectors and invites companies to pledge their net zero targets and  commitments.

Stage 4 – Offset

Residual emissions that are unavoidable and might not currently have a feasible and cost-effective technological option for abatement can be offset by investing in carbon reduction measures. There is a variety of carbon offsetting mechanisms available although methodologies to calculate carbon reductions differ considerably across different programme and there is no one size fits all offsetting solution.

The Gold Standard methodology and programme ensures a high level of scrutiny for carbon offsetting programmes: https://www.goldstandard.org/
