Nice article on
@sciam discussing "how preprints help young researchers grow in ways traditional types of scientific communication don’t."https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/i-love-preprints/ …Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo -
hmmm...just had a thought. If peer review becomes recognised for research output/assessment, then will it end up being measured by the IF of journals reviewed for? "20 reviews you say? I only see one 5+ IF journal here....so we'll put 1." How to stop this before it starts?

Protip: if you find a paper that was particularly helpful/useful/well done, it’s always a fine idea to drop a little note to the author to say so. It might just make their day.

This looks like poor practice rather than anything exceptionally sinister. I’ve never seen behind the scenes of Evise, but other systems can make this error easily. Every decision template needs some customising, but the boilerplate here doesn’t look an ideal basehttps://twitter.com/manuelporcar1/status/928251836406083584 …

I watched Dunkirk on the plane home, ostensibly to check out the soundtrack since I’ve read so much about it. No one actually said it was two hours of neoclassical dark ambient. I would have gone to the cinema for that!

Another pin in my running map of the world! Lovely little route along the waters edge through the park - the whole route should be green really. Was very hot though. Sapped my speed!pic.twitter.com/6Q5BBrNSLK

A thread on how to access journal articles, for people who don't have access via an employer... Obv open access is best, but in the meantime, here are some get-arounds, since I've seen a few folks on here struggling to locate articles / coming up against paywalls
