This past March we
reported that Alliance Films Media of Canada was preparing a DVD set of
The Hitchhiker - The Complete Collection for release north of the border. At the time the release date was said to be in late May, but then
we passed along word that the title had been delayed, and that a supposed new date was August 9th per Amazon.ca's pre-order
listing. But Alliance never confirmed that, and obviously the date has come and gone with no shipments, despite the Amazon entry continuing to show it. Other online retailer listings showed other dates, but the studio wouldn't verify those, either. So we've been quiet here...until today, that is! This morning Alliance posted a new schedule for
The Hitchhiker - The Complete Collection at their password-protected B2B website. That date is
October 11, 2011...timed well to tie in with Halloween! The box art still isn't available yet, so stay tuned for that, but for now here's a studio description of the release that Alliance provided:
